Power BI Developer / Specialist – Contract (Outside IR35)

A consultancy partner is supporting an end‑client who is building a new operational platform with a Python back end and no existing data lake or BI layer.
We’re looking for a hands‑on Power BI Developer who can take data directly from the operational system and turn it into a structured model and reporting layer in Power BI.

What you’ll be doing
- Working with stakeholders across the business to understand their MI and reporting needs
- Translating these into a clear, workable approach for getting data from the operational Python‑based system into Power BI
- Shaping, modelling and preparing the data for reporting
- Building dashboards and reports that meet functional requirements
- Operating independently in an environment without a dedicated data engineering team

What we’re looking for
- Strong, hands‑on Power BI skills (Power Query, modelling, DAX)
- Experience working directly with operational systems (APIs, direct DB connections, files, etc.)

- Comfortable working with stakeholders to define MI requirements and translate them into deliverables
- Confident working in an environment where the BI layer is being built from scratch
