About the Role

We are expanding our Technology Services Team to support an international data transformation initiative based in Stockholm, Sweden.

We are looking for a Lead Data Engineer with strong technical expertise and a strategic mindset to help design and build a solid, governed, and future-ready data platform. The client’s objective is to establish a high-quality data foundation that will support advanced analytics and future AI-driven capabilities.

This is a fully on-site position in Stockholm, requiring relocation or availability to work in Sweden for the duration of the 12-month assignment.

The ideal candidate combines deep technical expertise with leadership capability, data quality ownership, and a strong interest in modern data architectures and emerging technologies.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and implementation of a scalable and governed data platform;

• Define and implement modern data architecture frameworks, including Medallion Architecture (Bronze, Silver, Gold);
• Develop, optimize, and maintain complex SQL logic (T-SQL / PL-SQL);
• Ensure high standards of data quality, governance, and performance from ingestion to consumption;
• Design and implement Data Warehouse Automation (DWA) approaches;
• Work with cloud-native data solutions (Azure, AWS, Snowflake);
• Support BI and analytics teams by enabling reliable and performant data models;
• Contribute to the integration of emerging technologies such as Microsoft Fabric, vector databases, and AI-enabled data solutions;
• Provide technical leadership and best practices to the data team;
• Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business needs into robust data solutions.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in Data Engineering;
• Advanced expertise in SQL (T-SQL / PL-SQL), including querying, programming, and performance optimization;
• Expert-level knowledge in at least one cloud-native data ecosystem: Microsoft Azure (Synapse, SQL Database, Fabric), AWS, or Snowflake;
• Strong experience with BI and visualization tools (Power BI, Qlik, or Tableau);
• Proven experience with Data Warehouse Automation (DWA);
• Solid understanding and practical experience with modern data architecture patterns (e.g., Medallion Architecture);
• Strong data quality and governance mindset;
