Data Engineer - Quant Trading Firm - London/Abu Dhabi - Up to £150k + 30-50% Bonus
Durlston Partners is working with a Quantitative Trading firm that is expanding its data engineering team - this person can either join in London or Abu Dhbai, full relocation assistance provided.
You’ll be joining a team of elite technologists (think ICPC finalists and former Big Tech architects) operating in a relaxed, open-collar environment. This is a tech-first culture where the code speaks louder than the suit, and you'll be building the next generation of data infrastructure without the bureaucratic red tape.
You’ll work closely with quants and traders to build and maintain the firm’s data pipelines and research infrastructure. This is a hands-on role where you will design scalable architecture, optimise data flow for speed and reliability, and directly influence the firm's trading strategies by ensuring high-quality data availability.
What You’ll Do
- Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines for high-frequency market data and alternative datasets.
- Architect and manage cloud-native data solutions on AWS or Azure, utilizing modern warehousing (Snowflake, Databricks, or Redshift).
- Optimise data ingestion, storage, and retrieval processes for speed and reliability.
- Collaborate with quantitative researchers to clean, normalize, and structure complex financial datasets for model training.

What They’re Looking For
- Industry Experience is Essential: You must have worked in a finance-related environment (Hedge Fund, HFT, Investment Bank, or FinTech).
- Deep Exposure to Financial Data: Proven experience handling modern financial/trading datasets (e.g., Tick Data, OHLCV, Level 2/3 Market Data, or Alternative Data).
- Expert-level proficiency in Python and SQL.
- Solid experience with cloud platforms (AWS or Azure) and modern data warehouses (Snowflake, Databricks, etc.).
- Strong academic background in Computer Science or Engineering.
