BCI is hiring an AI Technical Product Manager to architect solutions for our $35 billion global Private Equity portfolio. You will have institutional scale combined with a 0-to-1 mindset, backed by the resources to build transformative systems and generate and measure tangible ROI based on your contributions.
You will develop LLM-powered document intelligence, design real-time analytics dashboards that surface portfolio insights, and create automated workflows that eliminate manual investment operations, with a focus on value-add and business insights that guide business decisions. You will collaborate with teams across Victoria, London, and New York, combining hands-on AI/ML engineering with deep operational expertise to deliver high-impact solutions.
THE OPPORTUNITY
Reporting to the Manager, Private Equity Operations, the Technical Product Manager is responsible for designing, building, and deploying AI solutions that transform how BCI's Private Equity department operates. This role sits at the intersection of finance operations and applied AI engineering, combining hands-on technical development with operational engagement. The Technical Product Manager builds production-grade systems for document intelligence, data extraction, portfolio analytics, and workflow automation using large language models, modern data platforms, and cloud architectures.
This role collaborates cross-functionally with investment teams, value creation, Technology, and Corporate Data & Operations to identify, execute, maintain, and scale the highest-impact automation opportunities across the PE investment lifecycle.
WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH
The Private Equity department manages a diverse international portfolio of approximately $35 billion in global private equity investments comprising of fund, direct and co-investments. Portfolio growth over the coming years will be driven by an increased emphasis on direct investment, strong partner relationships and actively creating value from the portfolio to deliver superior returns for our clients.
Our department currently consists of ~75 professionals spanning offices located in Victoria, London and New York City, organized into six sub-teams: Direct Investments, Fund Investments, Venture & Growth, Value Creation, Reporting & Analytics, and Operations. Our Direct Investments team can be further broken down into six sector-focused teams that cover the Business Services, Consumer, Financial Services, Healthcare, Industrials, and Technology, Media & Communications sectors.
BCI's Private Equity Operations serves as the operational backbone for the investment lifecycle—from deal execution through portfolio monitoring to exit. As the portfolio scales, Operations is transforming into a strategic capability through AI-enabled automation, advanced analytics, and portfolio intelligence systems.
WHAT YOU BRING
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or related technical field
- 3-5 years of software development experience with hands-on AI/ML implementation
- Proven track record building and deploying AI solutions in production environments, particularly with LLMs and other relevant models
- Strong experience with Python and SQL for data pipeline development and application logic
- Experience building and maintaining full-stack web applications with modern frameworks (Next.js, TypeScript, Node.js), Python backend services and SQL Database management
- Experience designing and implementing APIs, data integrations, and workflow automation
- Demonstrated ability to translate complex business requirements into technical solutions with an eye for detail
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills including the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences
- Knowledge of investment management, private equity operations, or financial services is strongly preferred
- Demonstrated ability to own the product engineering lifecycle requirements gathering through iterative development and user feedback integration
- Comfort working in ambiguous, fast-paced environments with competing priorities

Technical Requirements
- AI/ML: Experience with large language models (Claude/Anthropic API, ChatGPT/OpenAI API) for document analysis and Anthropic Claude, Open AI, Perplexity API’s information extraction; document intelligence including OCR and PDF processing; prompt engineering for LLM workflows; ML operations and performance monitoring
- Data & Engineering Platforms: Databricks for data engineering and ETL pipelines; Azure Cloud infrastructure including Functions, API Management and Azure App Services; Terraform for CI/CD pipelines, authentication protocols (SSO, OAuth2); RESTful API design and integration patterns; Git and version control.
- Analytics & Visualization: Power BI for dashboard development and data modeling; Power Apps and Power Automate for rapid prototyping; full-stack web application development with modern frameworks (Next.js, TypeScript, Node.js) and Python backend services, Excel and VBA for financial modeling (asset, not requirement).
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Builds and deploys end-to-end AI solutions that transform PE operational workflows (75%):
Documents Intelligence and Data Extraction:
- Develops LLM powered pipelines that extract structured data from GP reports, capital call notices, financial statements, and investment memoranda
- Implements validation logic, exception handling, and APIs that feed extracted data to downstream systems including SimCorp, Chronograph, and internal databases
Portfolio Analytics & Intelligence:
- Designs and deploys real-time Power BI dashboards or web application visualizations that surface portfolio performance, capital deployment, and operational metrics for PE leadership
- Builds automated exception flagging and alerting for key financial parameters such as NAV movements, covenant breaches, and valuation anomalies
- Creates predictive models for capital call pacing, distribution forecasting, and portfolio trends
LLM Powered Applications:
- Leverages Claude (Anthropic) and other foundation models to build intelligent systems for GP communication analysis, investment memo summarization, and natural language querying and other LLM-powered products for investment teams.
- Develops agentic AI workflows that automate complex multi-step processes including quarterly reporting preparation and due diligence document review
- Creates intuitive front-end interfaces that allows teams to interact with AI systems through natural language
Integration & Architecture:
- Serves as technical liaison between PE Operations, Technology, and Corporate Data & Operations to ensure seamless integration of AI solutions with enterprise systems
- Designs scalable, secure, cloud-native architectures that support BCI's growing PE portfolio
Innovation & Continuous Improvement:
- Stays current with emerging AI technologies and evaluates their applicability to PE operations
- Conducts proofs-of-concepts for new automation opportunities identified through operational engagement
- Documents technical solutions, creates knowledge artifacts, and provides training to the PE team on AI-powered tools

- Participates in PE operational workflows including accounting notices, and quarterly reporting and valuations to build deep understanding of business requirements and pain points
- Identifies high-impact automation opportunities through hands-on experience
- Collaborates with the operations team to translate business needs into technical specifications
Process Improvement & Testing:
- Executes operational workflows with a continuous improvement mindset, documenting inefficiencies, data quality issues, and automation candidates
- Serves as the primary user acceptance tester for new automation solutions, ensuring they meet business requirements and operate correctly in production contexts
- Provides technical consultation on complex transactions or reporting scenarios
- Develops make or buy recommendations and ROI measurement for automation initiatives
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Partners with investment teams to understand due diligence workflows, deal execution requirements, and portfolio monitoring needs
- Supports value creation initiatives by deploying automation frameworks to portfolio companies
- Builds relationships with Technology and Corporate Data & Operations to align on enterprise data strategy, security standards, and platform roadmaps
WHERE YOU WILL WORK
This role will be based in our office in downtown Victoria, BC. Relocation support is available if needed.
SALARY RANGE
The annualized salary range for this role is CAD $103,000 - $124,000
