Senior Relay Settings Engineer and Protection & Controls Design Engineer

Hiring a Senior Relay Settings Engineer, and a PE-licensed Protection and Controls Design Engineer (100% remote!)

About the Job(s):

1. Senior Relay Settings Engineer (System Protection Engineering)

• Perform short-circuit, coordination, and protection studies
• Develop and validate relay settings
• Generate and review time-current coordination (TCC) curves.
• Conduct arc-flash and grounding studies as required.
• Support disturbance analysis and misoperation investigations.
• Maintain relay settings databases and manage change control processes.
• Ensure compliance with IEEE C37 standards, NERC PRC standards, and utility protection criteria.
• Commissioning & Field Support

2. Protection & Control Design Engineer (Stamped Deliverables)- PE Required

• Lead the development of substation P&C design packages (1-lines, 3-lines, AC & DC Schematics, etc.)
• Develop and implement protection philosophies and design standards.

• Design and review relay logic (SELogic, FlexLogic, IEC 61850 GOOSE schemes).
• Coordinate SCADA integration and RTU I/O mapping.
• Review and approve vendor drawings and relay settings files.
• Sign and seal engineering drawings and calculations as required.
• Ensure compliance with NEC, NESC, IEEE, ANSI, and local utility requirements.

3. Project Leadership & Technical Oversight

• Serve as P&C technical lead on capital projects and interconnections.

Requirements:

Senior Relay Settings Engineer:

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
• 5 years' experience performing and approving relay coordination studies.
• Hands-on experience with SEL, GE Multilin, ABB, Siemens, or equivalent relay platforms.
• Proficiency in protection study and modeling software (ASPEN, CAPE, ETAP, SKM).

• Bachelors degree in EE
• 5 years' experience with protection and controls design engineering
• Strong knowledge of 1-line, 3-line, AC & DC schematic design, etc.
• PE Certification
