Systems Engineer | Berlin, Berlin, Germany | Hybrid


We're working with Amazon Web Services on this exciting opportunity. We are seeking an experienced Systems Engineer to join the Managed Operations team for the new European Sovereign Cloud (ESC). This role offers a unique chance to build and lead operations for high-availability AWS services exclusively for EU customers.


The Role

• Lead operations and development for AWS services like EC2, S3, Dynamo, Lambda, and Bedrock.

• Oversee the launch of the ESC in 2025, collaborating with global AWS teams.

• Influence the evolution of AWS services and technology for the European market.

• Enhance day-to-day operations and improve availability, reliability, and efficiency of the ESC.

• Participate in on-call rotations to resolve out-of-hours incidents.

• Contribute to building a best-in-class development engineering and operations team.


What You'll Need

• Must be a national of an EU member state and residing in the EU.

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent industry experience.

• Strong scripting skills (Bash, Python, Ruby) or software development experience (Java, TypeScript).

• Solid understanding of Linux and networking fundamentals.

• Ability to execute standard operating procedures and follow operational best practices.

• Fluency in written and spoken English is required.
