Solutions Architect

This role offers the opportunity to define and drive the technical architecture of core products and platforms while remaining hands-on with code and infrastructure. You will collaborate closely with engineering, product, and business stakeholders to design scalable, secure, and maintainable systems, ensuring alignment across multiple teams. The Solutions Architect will provide technical leadership, mentor engineers, and establish best practices that enhance performance, reliability, and overall software quality. You will have significant influence over system design, cloud infrastructure, data models, and integration patterns, shaping the evolution of the technology stack. The position requires balancing strategic architectural vision with practical execution, delivering solutions that meet business goals while supporting team growth. This is a fully remote role, enabling collaboration with a diverse, distributed engineering team across LATAM.

Accountabilities

• Design end-to-end solutions that meet functional and non-functional requirements, including scalability, performance, security, and reliability.
• Define and maintain system architecture, service boundaries, data flows, integration patterns, and APIs.
• Translate business requirements into technical designs, architecture decision records (ADRs), and implementation roadmaps.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance to engineering teams, including code and design reviews, best practices, and standards enforcement.
• Evaluate and select technologies, frameworks, and tools, and create proofs of concept or reference implementations.
• Oversee data models, storage strategies, and database schemas (SQL and NoSQL).
• Collaborate with DevOps and infrastructure teams to define cloud and on-prem architectures (AWS preferred).
• Ensure compliance with security, reliability, and operational standards across all systems.
• Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, and contribute to architecture documentation, guidelines, and playbooks.
• Mentor mid-level and senior engineers on architecture, system design thinking, and technical decision-making.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience building web applications with PHP, including Laravel or similar frameworks.
• Strong expertise in system design and distributed systems, including scalability, availability, fault tolerance, and observability.
• Proficiency with cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred) and bare-metal/on-prem setups, including compute, storage, networking, security, monitoring, and cost optimization.
• Solid experience with SQL (MySQL, PostgreSQL) and at least one NoSQL technology, including data modeling and performance tuning.
• 3+ years in a formal architecture or technical leadership role (Solutions Architect, Lead Engineer, Principal Engineer), guiding technical decisions across teams or large projects.
• Strong understanding of software architecture patterns (modular monolith, microservices, event-driven), caching, message queues, CI/CD, and version control (Git).
• Experience designing and integrating APIs (REST or GraphQL) with authentication and authorization.
• Excellent communication skills, capable of explaining complex technical concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Nice to have: Golang or Python experience, knowledge of LLMs and AI agents, container orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes), event streaming, observability stacks, and security best practices.
