Context And Mission
The AI Factory is seeking for a Trustworthy AI specialist who will provide end-to-end guidance to identify, assess, and mitigate technical and ethical risks across the AI lifecycle. The service strengthens AI safety through robust guardrails against misuse and harmful behavior, and proactively addresses algorithmic bias and broader ethical impacts. This enables safe deployment, and trustworthy use of AI in the European market, helping startups and SMEs reduce regulatory exposure, protect their reputation, and build user trust while bringing responsible, market-ready AI solutions to the European Union.
Key Duties
- Deep dive analysis of European regulations, ethical frameworks and governance standards
- Process technical documentation provided by AI Factory clients
- Conduct Trustworthy AI risk and ethics assessments
- Design mitigation strategies regarding AI safety, explainability and fairness
- Work closely with the ELSEC AI group
- Education
- Background in Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Computational Social Sciences and related fields
- Additional training in Ethical, Legal, Socio-Economic and Cultural aspects of AI
- Essential Knowledge and Professional Experience
- Demonstrated experience in risk assessment methodologies
- Demonstrated experience in at least one of these research fields: XAI, AI Fairness, AI Safety, Responsible AI
- Additional Knowledge and Professional Experience
- Experience in producing technical deliverables and report on AI risks, biases, mitigation strategies and impact assessment
- Ability to identify ethical trade-offs, evaluate and report them
- Familiarity with European regulations (e.g. AI Act, GDPR, MDR, DSA, etc), ethical frameworks and governance standards

- The position will be located at BSC within the Computer Sciences Department
- We offer a full-time contract (37.5h/week), a good working environment, a highly stimulating environment with state-of-the-art infrastructure, flexible working hours, extensive training plan, restaurant tickets, private health insurance, support to the relocation procedures
- Duration: Temporary (31/03/2028)
- Holidays: 22 days of holidays + 6 personal days + 24th and 31st of December per our collective agreement

The selection will be carried out through a competitive examination system ("Concurso-Oposición"). The recruitment process consists of two phases:
- Curriculum Analysis: Evaluation of previous experience and/or scientific history, degree, training, and other professional information relevant to the position. - 40 points
- Interview phase: The highest-rated candidates at the curriculum level will be invited to the interview phase, conducted by the corresponding department and Human Resources. In this phase, technical competencies, knowledge, skills, and professional experience related to the position, as well as the required personal competencies, will be evaluated. - 60 points. A minimum of 30 points out of 60 must be obtained to be eligible for the position.
In accordance with OTM-R principles, a gender-balanced recruitment panel is formed for each vacancy at the beginning of the process. After reviewing the content of the applications, the panel will begin the interviews, with at least one technical and one administrative interview. At a minimum, a personality questionnaire as well as a technical exercise will be conducted during the process.
The panel will make a final decision, and all individuals who participated in the interview phase will receive feedback with details on the acceptance or rejection of their profile.
