Basic Qualifications

• Position requires demonstrated leadership skills and professional experience in managing operations personnel supporting customer mission readiness at dedicated training and operational installations.

• Must have experience in evaluating personnel's performance and in completing performance appraisals.

The successful candidate will work closely with other members of the Lockheed Martin training team and Japanese Air Self-Defense Force (JASDF) to fulfill F 35 training objectives in Misawa, Japan.

This management position supports military pilots’ flight procedures in maintaining qualification level in the Pilot Training Device by executing approved pilot training syllabi, upgrade, and tactics training. CIP will provide pilot training using the F 35 Full Mission Simulator (FMS). The instructor will primarily operate the Instructor Operating Station (IOS) and will be a Subject Matter Expert (SME) supporting pilot training and tactics development, as well as recommendations for courseware updates. The successful candidate will work closely with other members of the Lockheed Martin team at dedicated training sites to fulfill F 35 training and continuation training objectives. The successful candidate will implement and support Lockheed Martin initiatives, programs, and policies, as directed. Candidate must maintain a Secret level security clearance and Special Access Program (SAP) access. Appropriate degree from an accredited college, or equivalent experience/combined education, with professional experience and specialized training commensurate with assignment. Additional duties and related responsibilities will be assigned as required.

Additional Responsibilities

• Employee engagement: Provide performance feedback to employees and engage with them on career goals and development.
• Configuration Management: Oversee implementation of updates/upgrades and closeout of applicable documentation.
• Customer coordination with scheduling (operations and maintenance): Provide the designated customer representative with a proposed “30-90 day” plan for approval of the utilization of the PTDs, including scheduled maintenance downtime.
• Sortie Completion and Readiness Reporting: Ensure accurate and timely submission of daily training and device information.
• AS9100 Compliance: Ensure the site operates within the guidelines and has all necessary tools, documentation, and training required to be successful.
• Foreign Assignment: This position will offer a long term deployment to a foreign country supporting the Japanese Air Self Defense Force (JASDF) in Misawa, Japan.
  
  

Candidates be advised: This position operates in direct support of a deployable F 35 fighter squadron. Employees in this role may be required to deploy with the customer on peacetime and wartime military operations for defined and potentially undefined durations and may be required to obtain and maintain customer required deployment readiness qualifications leading up to potential deployments.

F-35 Fast Facts

Selected applicant may be required to work rotating shifts, and work in excess of 40 hours per week.

Accompanied Status Available: Accompanied status means new hires may have qualifying dependents accompany them on their long-term overseas assignment. Employee and accompanied family members will fall under Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA) as part of their employment at MCAS Iwakuni.

Desired Skills

• Previous experience as an F-35 Contractor Instructor Pilot (CIP) or F-35 Pilot Subject Matter (SME) experience.
• 1000+ hours Fighter Flight Time in fourth and/or fifth generation fighter aircraft.
• Familiarity with F-35 tactics, techniques, and procedures.
• Familiarity with Pacific theatre customers and mission.
• Familiarity with F-35 program requirements.
• Familiarity with the F-35 ALIS program.
• Previous experience with Japan Air Self-Defense Force (JASDF) customer.
