Dear applicant, we are looking for an exceptional person with passion for marketing to join the Deviate Labs team as a Performance Marketing Manager (Paid Media & Strategy) working fully remotely (details below). This application process is an exhaustive process that may take you anywhere from 3-6+ hours of your time in total.
The process is split up into the following phases (we will evaluate each applicant at each phase and only invite those that demonstrate alignment to move onto the following phase):
- Job application (10-30 min): We look for genuine interest, attention to detail, and a track record of excellence. Please read the instructions carefully - we filter heavily here.
- Initial intake questionnaire (10-30 minutes): A brief intake questionnaire and portfolio review. We are looking for organization, marketing prowess, and proof of past execution.
- Video introduction interview (10-30 minutes): This is your opportunity to introduce yourself and learn more about Deviate Labs and the position. We will be evaluating your verbal communication skills, cultural fit, attitude, and energy.
- Strategy Challenge (30-60 min): A specific go-to-market scenario to see how you think. We aren't looking for free consulting; we are looking for your ability to diagnose problems and propose logical solutions.
- Phase 5: The Deep Dive Interview (60-120 min): We are looking for demonstrated marketing expertise, creativity, quick thinking, evidence of being a self-starter, passion, accountability, work ethic, and cultural fit.
As we near the end of this process and are ready to make an offer, we will 1. Contact two references of yours and 2. Perform a background check.
Note: We evaluate applicants at each stage and only invite those who demonstrate strong alignment to move forward. We wish you the best of luck.
About Deviate Labs
Deviate Labs, a growth marketing agency with client projects ranging from Grammy Nomination pursuits in the music industry to Webby-award nominated stunt marketing campaigns like breakthecode.tech to programmatic marketing campaigns with celebrity-backed companies like Hello Bello (Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard) to full-stack marketing management for a variety of B2B SaaS companies, is looking to hire a full-time, 40-hour a week Performance Marketing Manager (Paid Media & Strategy).
Deviate Labs provides an extraordinarily broad range of marketing services including: programmatic advertising, search engine optimization, content marketing, email marketing, influencer marketing, marketing analytics, celebrity partnerships, among others.
Deviate Labs Management Philosophy
At Deviate Labs, we view and manage our organization as a professional team versus a family. Each of us makes a deliberate choice to be here, understanding that we have a specific contribution to the team. We are expected to continuously develop and refine our skills, performing at a high level driven by our shared passion for the work we do as Deviators.
We believe in work-life balance and strongly encourage our team to achieve that balance. After all, we don’t live to work, but work to live. Each Deviator is exceptional, bringing unique skills and talents that we deeply respect. Everyone has a voice and everyone’s opinion is valued. When opinions differ, we encourage a healthy discourse where at the end, we are all able to “disagree and commit.”
Because each and every Deviator is a self-starter, self-motivated, and holds themselves to the highest standards, there is no need for micro-management. We instill a strong sense of trust in our teammates (which takes time to build of course) and know we can count on each other.
About the Position
Deviate Labs is a growth marketing agency known for "deviating" from the norm. We’ve worked with companies featured on Shark Tank, orchestrated Webby-award nominated stunts (breakthecode.tech), and managed growth for celebrity-backed brands like Hello Bello. We are looking for a Performance Marketing Manager to own our paid media operations.

You will not just be "running ads." You will be the architect of our clients' growth engines. Your primary responsibility is owning the "Paid Traffic" lever. While Google Ads, Meta (Facebook/Instagram) Ads, and LinkedIn Ads will be your bread and butter, you must be a versatile tactician capable of executing across TikTok, X (Twitter), Microsoft Ads, and emerging platforms like Reddit or Quora.
We don't need a button-pusher. We need a Strategist-Executor Hybrid. You must understand the first principles of customer acquisition: unit economics, creative fatigue, funnel optimization, and attribution.
The Tech Stack:
We don't expect you to be a grandmaster of every platform on day 1, but we do expect mastery of the fundamentals.
- Core Competency: Google Ads, Meta, and LinkedIn Ads. You should be able to audit these accounts in your sleep and spot wasted spend immediately.
- Proficiency: Microsoft Ads, TikTok Ads, Apple Search Ads, and X (Twitter). You know your way around the interfaces and can execute a strategy if given clear KPIs.
- Adaptability: We test new waters constantly (Reddit, Quora, Pinterest). You must be the type of person who reads the documentation and figures it out without hand-holding because you understand the universal principles of PPC.
Responsibilities:
- Omni-Channel Execution: Develop, manage and optimize programmatic campaigns across the platforms listed above.
- Strategic Optimization: Relentlessly test new concepts, creatives, and targeting strategies to lower CAC (Customer Acquisition Cost) and increase ROAS (Return on Ad Spend).
- Data Analysis: Translate raw data from ad platforms and GA4 into actionable insights. You should be able to look at a spreadsheet and tell us a story about user behavior.
- AI-Augmented Workflow: You treat AI (LLMs, Midjourney, etc.) as an intern, not a replacement. You use it to accelerate data analysis, brainstorm ad hooks, and draft copy variations - but you never let raw AI output go to a client without your expert polish.
- Client Communication: Translate complex metrics into clear, business-centric updates for our clients.
- Performance Reports: Create reports that weave in data and creatives for c-suite execs informing them past performances, wins (and losses), strategy, and path forward.
- Creative Collaboration: Collaborate with our creative team to design high-performing ad creatives (static and video) based on your performance data.
Competencies:
- Intelligence & Analysis: You can dissect complex datasets and pivot strategy based on empirical evidence, not gut feeling.
- Resourcefulness: If you don't know the answer, you find it. You are comfortable figuring out new platforms (like Reddit or Quora) without needing a manual. To demonstrate you read this job post thoroughly, type the following into your application: I am human.
- Passion: You read growth marketing blogs for fun. You know who the industry leaders are. You are constantly "leveling up."
- Excellence: Good enough is not enough. You double-check your tracking pixels, your UTM parameters, and your ad copy.
- Independence: You have experience working remotely and have the discipline to manage your own schedule and output.
Cultural Fit:
- Accountable (takes deadlines seriously and proactively communicates any anticipated changes to deadlines)
- Punctual (has a habit of arriving a couple minutes early to conference calls)
- Loves to learn (reads books, listens to podcasts, attends conferences)
- High level of integrity (able to deliver news honestly, even when it isn’t convenient or easy)
- Clear communicator (can synthesize information through writing; can ask the right questions)
- Adaptability (thrive in a constantly changing environment)
- Determination (can push through obstacles with persistence)
- Results-oriented (cares about project outcomes and not just carrying out tasks)

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Managed a monthly ad spend of at least $30,000+ across multiple platforms (must have experience beyond just Google/Meta)
- Experience with various campaign types including but not limited to shopping, performance max, video, and app campaigns
- Experience with full funnel' setups: You understand how to set up the Pixel/CAPI, the ad, the landing page tracking, and the CRM integration
- 2+ years of experience with marketing technology such as email tools, CRMs, marketing automation, advertising platforms, analytics, etc.
- Provide 2 references for us to contact as part of the hiring process
Nice-to-Haves:
- Copywriting (persuasive writing with the intent to sell)
- Creative eye (able to provide design critiques)
- Marketing project management experience
- Experience with landing page optimization
- Marketing agency experience
Compensation & Extras:
- Starts at $65,000-$80,000/year (full-time)
- Work-from-home
- PTO and sick leave
- Health insurance
- 401k + matching
- Work-life balance (we believe consistent work applied over a long duration will produce better results than a short-term burn-out culture)
