About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Data Analyst to join our Ranking Team, which is responsible for developing and optimizing machine learning models that influence how products are discovered on our clients’ e-commerce platforms. In this role, you will evaluate and enhance the performance of ranking models, features, and configurations through extensive experimentation and data analysis. You will work with a large-scale experimentation environment, conducting numerous A/B tests each month and processing terabytes of data to derive actionable insights. Your contributions will directly impact key metrics, user experience, and the strategic direction of our search and recommendation systems.
As the first data analyst on a dedicated six-member team, you will collaborate closely with engineers, data scientists, and product managers. Your insights will help define success criteria, interpret user behavior, and inform product and algorithm improvements. You will tackle challenges such as analyzing ranking performance across different models and customer segments, understanding shopper behavior, designing and validating new metrics, and building scalable analytics infrastructure. Your work will enable data-driven decision-making that enhances both technical performance and business outcomes.
This role demands a strong foundation in experimental design, statistical analysis, and big data tools, with an emphasis on translating complex data into clear, actionable insights. Your expertise will help shape the future of search relevance, personalization, and overall user engagement on our platform.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience analyzing complex experiments and large datasets
- Proficiency in SQL for large-scale data extraction and transformation
- Experience with distributed data processing systems such as Apache Spark
- Strong programming skills in Python, including data analysis libraries and automation
- Knowledge of machine learning pipelines, ranking/recommendation metrics, and search relevance concepts
- Ability to design and validate meaningful metrics aligned with business goals
- Experience creating dashboards and reports using Tableau, Looker, or custom Python solutions
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret user behavior and derive insights
- Strong collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams
- Understanding of experimental design, statistical testing, and hypothesis validation
- Passion for data-driven decision-making and continuous learning
- Availability to work within the time zone of 9:00–15:00 UTC
