Sage Recruiting is partnered with a well-funded technology company operating in a highly regulated domain to hire a Senior Data Engineer. This is a hands-on role focused on building and scaling AWS-based data infrastructure that supports high-volume, production-critical systems.
This opportunity is ideal for a senior-level data engineer who enjoys owning systems end-to-end, working with large datasets, and improving data reliability and performance in a fast-moving environment.
The Role
As a Senior Data Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining data pipelines and infrastructure that support analytics and downstream systems. You will work closely with engineering and product stakeholders to ensure data is reliable, secure, and scalable.
This role is individual-contributor focused, with a strong emphasis on AWS data engineering, Python, and SQL.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Own and evolve AWS-based data infrastructure
- Work with Redshift (and other tools) for data warehousing and analytics technologies
- Design, build, and optimize complex Python and SQL queries
- Develop and maintain ETL processes and data pipelines
- Ensure data quality, consistency, and reliability across large datasets
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support reporting and analytics needs
- Apply best practices around data security, governance, and performance

What We’re Looking For
- 10+ years of total experience in Engineering
- Minimum 5 years as a Data Engineer
- Strong hands-on experience with Redshift, Python and SQL
- Proven experience working with large-scale datasets
- Deep experience with AWS data tooling, including:
- Redshift
- Glue
- QuickSight
- Solid understanding of data modelling, ETL, and pipeline architecture
- Experience with PostgreSQL and/or MySQL
- Ability to work independently and own systems end-to-end
- Strong communication skills and comfort working in distributed teams
Nice-to-Have Experience
- AWS Bedrock exposure.
- Familiarity with Mixpanel and low/no-code analytics tools.
- Databricks exposure (future-state relevance).
- Some Azure exposure (contextual only; not core to the role).

Location & Compensation
- 100% Remote (Canada-based)
- Base salary range: $150,000 – $200,000
