About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Backend Engineer to join our dynamic and fast-paced team. In this critical role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining core backend systems that power DualEntry’s AI-native ERP platform. You will own the entire lifecycle of backend features, from initial concept and development to deployment and scaling. Collaborating closely with founders, product managers, and frontend engineers, you will translate complex accounting workflows into secure, high-performance systems. Your work will directly impact the product’s velocity, stability, and scalability, enabling us to deliver innovative solutions rapidly. This role offers full ownership, a high degree of autonomy, and the opportunity to work on transformative technology in a high-growth environment. The position is remote, available across all EU and LATAM countries, with overlap for US Eastern Time (NYC).

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in backend engineering or software development
• Proven experience in high-growth, high-ownership environments
• Strong proficiency in PostgreSQL, SQL, ORMs, migrations, and schema design
• Experience with cloud infrastructure, preferably AWS or equivalent
• Expertise in API design, development, and testing
• Understanding of CI/CD pipelines, deployment processes, and production readiness
• Bonus: proficiency in Python and modern frameworks such as FastAPI, Flask, or Django
• Ability to manage complex, evolving systems with multiple dependencies

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end development and maintenance of backend systems and infrastructure
• Design, build, and optimize APIs, services, and real-time systems handling complex accounting logic
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including founders, product managers, and frontend engineers to translate requirements into scalable solutions
• Implement, test, and deploy production-ready features at a high velocity
• Manage data migrations, scaling challenges, and external integrations to ensure system reliability and performance
• Drive measurable outcomes to accelerate product development, stability, and user satisfaction
