About The Role

We are seeking an experienced Data Scientist specializing in Analytics & Data Science to join our team remotely from San Francisco, United States, or from any location where we have a legal entity. In this role, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to address a wide array of product and business challenges. Your primary responsibility will be to leverage your technical expertise in data analysis, experimentation, and storytelling to develop strategic insights that influence product development and business strategies. You will serve as a trusted advisor to leadership and product teams, translating complex data into clear, actionable recommendations. The role involves defining hypotheses, testing opportunities for improvement, and measuring the impact of initiatives to ensure that our products deliver maximum value to users and stakeholders. Your work will directly shape the future of Atlassian’s offerings, helping to identify new opportunities, anticipate challenges, and optimize performance through data-driven decision-making.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in Data Science or related fields
• Proficiency in SQL and at least one additional data manipulation language (e.g., Python, R)
• Expertise in storytelling with data and familiarity with visualization tools such as Tableau, R-Shiny, Microstrategy, SAP Business Objects, or Looker
• Strong knowledge of statistical concepts including regressions, A/B testing, clustering, and probability
• Experience driving impactful analytics projects that influence business strategy and performance
• Proven ability to craft analysis into persuasive and well-structured written content
• Experience advising and presenting to senior executives, serving as a thought partner
  
  

Desirable Qualifications Include

• 10+ years of experience in Data Science or related fields
• Understanding of SaaS business models and key performance metrics
• Experience developing insights for Chat, Search, or LLM-based products
  
  

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address complex product and business problems, establishing credibility through structured and clear work
• Apply technical expertise in quantitative analysis, experimentation, and data presentation to develop strategic insights
• Formulate hypotheses using various analytical methodologies, frameworks, and technical approaches to test and validate ideas
• Identify opportunities for product and business improvements, influencing roadmaps through insights and recommendations
• Partner with teams to inform, influence, and execute strategic decisions based on data-driven insights
• Monitor and forecast key product metrics to assess the success of initiatives and understand trends
• Leverage data to shape product development, quantify new opportunities, and anticipate challenges
• Communicate insights effectively to stakeholders at all levels, including company leadership, using storytelling techniques
