About The Role

We are seeking an experienced Staff Software Engineer specializing in mobile development to join our remote team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to influence the development of mobile products across General Motors, contributing to innovative solutions that enhance user experience and vehicle connectivity.

The successful candidate will lead technical efforts in planning, designing, and executing mobile applications, primarily focusing on native and ReactNative platforms. As a technical leader, you will mentor junior engineers, foster collaboration across teams, and drive engineering excellence. The role requires a proactive individual passionate about building scalable, reliable, and high-quality mobile solutions that align with GM’s vision of a safer, sustainable future.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent work experience
  • 7+ years of experience in Mobile development, native and preferably ReactNative
  • 7+ years of experience contributing to system architecture, documentation, and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability, and scaling)
  • Experience working with multi-tier production software systems utilizing HTTP APIs (REST or GraphQL)
  • Proficiency with backend datastores such as PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, Redis, or Elasticsearch
  • Demonstrated ability to understand complex tech stacks, debug code, and write tests

Responsibilities

  • Develop expertise in core mobile technologies, including client frameworks and services
  • Evaluate architectural trade-offs and apply synchronous and asynchronous design patterns effectively
  • Produce high-quality, unit-tested, and code-reviewed software for continuous integration and deployment
  • Serve as a technical lead, mentoring less experienced engineers and fostering a collaborative team environment
  • Present and advocate for product ideas and technical initiatives with cross-functional teams
  • Initiate, plan, and execute large-scale, cross-organizational programs and projects
  • Ensure adherence to engineering best practices and promote continuous improvement in engineering productivity and craftsmanship
