Job Title: Software Test EngineerJob Description
In this role, the Software Test Engineer will be responsible for developing specifications, testing, inspections, and documentation for cutting-edge nuclear reactor technology. The engineer will strategize and conduct both confirmation and validation testing of next-generation reactor systems.
Responsibilities
- Create, schedule, and perform engineered tests of new technology solutions to meet customer, design, and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate effectively with team experts and adjacent workgroups.
- Exhibit excellent technical problem-solving skills, thoroughly assessing problems and reaching logical conclusions.
- Demonstrate ownership, proactively communicate, and deliver assignments on time.
- Identify, document, and lead the resolution of technical risks within each project.
- Provide firm design bases for solutions that meet business objectives, project requirements, and industry standards.
- Prepare and present technical data to coworkers and customers.
- Work closely with technicians to assemble fixtures and equipment, prepare the test facility, and conduct unique testing.
- Develop manual or automated production test procedures to ensure product reliability and functionality.
- Provide technical support to technicians for various testing activities.
- Be willing to occasionally travel domestically and internationally to support customer and supplier meetings.
- Proficiency in embedded C and Python, with Python primarily used for automation.
- Experience with ARM processors and writing/implementing test cases.
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering/computer science or equivalent knowledge/experience.
- Minimum of 10 years of testing experience on complex electrical or electro-mechanical systems and structures.
- Strong experience with methods and approaches for testing new designs.
- Strong working knowledge of measurement devices and calibration processes.
- Experience in the nuclear industry and instrument integration level of testing.
- Ability and willingness to travel as needed.
- Diagnostic troubleshooting experience with both analog and digital electronics.
- Hands-on experience with measurement instrumentation such as oscilloscopes and logic analyzers.
- Programming experience in C, LabView, or LabWindows.
- Experience using automated test systems and writing automated test programs.
- Experience writing technical documents.
- Experience with ARM Development Studio is a plus.
- Familiarity with AI prompt tools like SpecKit is a bonus.
- Self-starter, energizing, results-oriented, and able to multitask.
- Eager to learn and expand skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Excellent teamwork, coordination, and communication skills.
This position offers the flexibility to work remotely, with occasional travel required to Wilmington to support onsite activities. The work environment involves new reactor technology and AI involvement, providing a heavy research and development atmosphere.

This is a Contract position based out of Wilmington, NC.
Pay And Benefits
The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $70.00/hr.
