Job Description
For one of our leading shipbuilders in the Netherlands, I am currently looking for an Outfitting Engineer (Plans & Arrangements) to join our client in one of their locations in the heart of the Dutch shipbuilding industry.
Tasks
As Outfitting Engineer (Plans & Arrangements), you are responsible for the layout of accommodation and technical spaces on complex vessels (excluding engine rooms). You work in 2D and 3D models to ensure that spaces, equipment, and access routes are positioned in a way that is functional, compliant, and buildable.
On a practical level, you will:
- Design and adjust layouts for accommodation and technical spaces using Cadmatic and/or 3DExperience (CATIA).
- Translate specifications, regulations, and input from other disciplines into clear arrangements.
- Check how layouts impact structure, piping, HVAC, electrical and safety disciplines, and resolve clashes where needed.
- Develop arrangements, statutory plans, lists, and fabrication/mounting drawings.
- Coordinate with colleagues, suppliers, and subcontractors to integrate technical information.
- Ensure compliance with class, statutory, naval, and customer requirements.
- Support production and installation by answering technical questions and updating designs.
- Contribute to improvements in working methods, standards, and knowledge sharing.
Job requirements
- Relevant education in shipbuilding, outfitting, marine engineering, or a related discipline.
- Experience in plans & arrangements and outfitting engineering within shipbuilding or offshore.
- Ability to work with 2D and 3D CAD tools such as Cadmatic and/or 3DExperience (CATIA).
- Knowledge of class and statutory regulations.
- Understanding of accommodation and technical space design, including maintainability and ergonomics.
- Structured way of working and ability to collaborate with multiple disciplines.
- Good command of the English language, written and verbal.
- EU citizenship and a valid EU passport (required due to the nature of the projects).
