Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Relay Ground System (RGS) Antenna Engineer - Level 2 or 3 - to support our team at Buckley Space Force Base in Aurora, CO.

What You'll Get To Do

Reporting directly to the Ground Chief Operations Engineer (COE) or delegate, the Relay Ground System (RGS) Antenna Engineer is responsible for the operational support and maintenance of the CONUS Space Based Infrared System Product Support Integration Contract Evolution (SPICE) mission antennas. Communicates operational status to the SPICE Operational Crews and notifies site Contractor Logistic Support Management (CLS) and the Space Force customer of any major outages or anomalies that may impact the operability of the antennas. The antenna engineer performs maintenance and operation of the satellite ground terminals and associated electronic equipment. The antenna engineer also trains the Hardware Maintenance Engineering Team on antenna operations and maintenance. The antenna engineer opens Problem Reports (PRs) on antenna issues and reports anomalies and/or concerns to the RGS antenna engineers at the backup operational Mission Control Stations, OCONUS RGS sites, and when necessary, relays concern to the RGS Depot Engineering Team. The antenna engineer supports the OCONUS RGS Liaison in support of the OCONUS RGS sites by supporting / facilitating meetings and providing expertise on OCONUS antenna anomalies. Ensure antenna engineering support for all pertinent CLS status and integration meetings to include but not limited: the CLS status meeting, Problem Review Working Group (PRWG), Project Integration Kickoff (PIK), Enterprise Schedule Working Group (ESWG), Round Table (RT) reviews, and Urgent Depot Level Maintenance, Emergency Depot Level Maintenance or Ground Anomaly Working Group (UDLM/EDLM/GAWG) meetings.

This requisition may be filled at a higher grade based on the qualifications listed below.

This requisition may be filled as either a Level 2 or Level 3.

Basic Qualifications For a Level 2

  • Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM discipline with 2 years related experience, or Master’s degree with 0 years related experience
  • Active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility required at time of application
  • Prior experience supporting Operations and Maintenance (O&M) RF ground systems engineering activities for a satellite communications system.
  • Experience working in multi-disciplinary engineering teams.
  • Experience with multiple operating systems (Windows, Linux, etc.)
  • Ability to meet commitments, work independently, accept accountability, handle change, set personal standards, stay focused under pressure, and be flexible to workday and night shifts to cover scheduled and unscheduled absences.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, create accurate and punctual reports, deliver presentations, share information and ideas with others, and have good listening skills.
  • Ability to travel to Colorado Springs and Boulder, CO in support of mission operations, and possible travel to OCONUS RGS sites.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds and work at heights.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Thorough understanding of technical principles, theories, and concepts, pertaining to the network, data communications, RF antenna, and hardware infrastructure within the SBIRS system.
  • Experience configuring, testing, and troubleshooting RF and IT communications systems.
  • Understanding of network appliances (firewalls, routers, switches) from Cisco and Juniper.
  • Proficient with network RF test equipment: Multimeters, Oscilloscopes, Frequency Generators, Spectrum Analyzers, Cable Analyzers and RF Sniffers.
  • Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry, US Department of Defense, and/or US Military.

Primary Level Salary Range: $91,800.00 - $137,600.00

Secondary Level Salary Range: $114,000.00 - $171,000.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
