Azure Data Engineer

Contract: 12 months (subject to extension).

Location: Utrecht, Netherlands.

Your Profile & DNA:

We are seeking a highly skilled Azure Data Engineer with expertise in designing, building & optimizing scalable data pipelines and analytical solutions using Databricks, Python, and PySpark to join our dynamic team. You will collaborate closely with other data engineers , product owner , business analyst and stakeholders to ensure high quality, reliable data products.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain ETLELT pipelines on Databricks using Python and PySpark.
• Build and maintain scalable data models to support analytics, reporting, and downstream applications.
• Implement data quality checks, monitoring, and governance standards.
• Optimize data processing jobs for performance, cost efficiency, and reliability.
• Work with stakeholders to understand data requirements and translate them into technical designs.
• Collaborate with analysts to publish clean, well structured datasets for Power BI dashboards.
• Manage and optimize data storage solutions (Delta Lake, data lakes, and/or data warehouses).
• Troubleshoot pipeline issues and ensure data accuracy, consistency, and completeness.
• Document data flows, architecture components, and processes.

Qualification & Experience

• A Bachelor's or Master's Degree or equivalent.
• Strong experience with Power BI and data modelling is essential.
• 5+ years of experience as a Data Engineer or similar role.
• Strong expertise in Databricks, including Delta Lake, cluster management, and notebook development.
• Advanced proficiency in Python and PySpark for largescale data processing.
• Solid understanding of data modelling principles (star schema, snowflake, semantic models).
• Experience building or supporting Power BI datasets, models, and optimized data feeds.
• Hands-on experience with distributed computing and big data processing.
• Familiarity with CICD practices for data pipelines (Git, DevOps tools).
• Strong SQL skills for querying and data transformation.
• Understanding of data governance, security, and privacy best practices.
• Strong analytical and problem solving mindset.
• Ability to work in cross-functional teams.
• Clear communication skills, both technical and non-technical.
• Self-driven, proactive, and comfortable working in an agile environment.
