What is it like to be a Composite Materials Quality Assurance Engineer at DHV Technology?
As a Composite Materials Quality Assurance Engineer at DHV Technology, you will play a key role in ensuring the quality and conformity of composite materials, manufacturing processes, and finished products within a high-tech aerospace environment. Working closely with production, manufacturing engineering, product assurance, and suppliers, you will be responsible for controlling incoming materials, validating in-process and final inspections, managing non-conformities, and ensuring compliance with applicable quality standards and customer requirements.
This role combines strong technical expertise in composite materials with a rigorous quality mindset, requiring attention to detail, autonomy, and a collaborative approach to support manufacturing excellence, traceability, and continuous improvement across the full production lifecycle.
Responsibilities
You will be engaged in all quality assurance activities related to composite materials manufacturing projects, including but not limited to:
- Ensure compliance with quality requirements for composite materials, in process products, and final products prior to customer delivery.
- Perform incoming inspection and quality control of materials and products supplied by external vendors, including supplier audits and qualification when required.
- Validate and supervise in process and final inspections, ensuring correct application of inspection plans, acceptance criteria, and traceability requirements.
- Conduct product and process audits throughout the manufacturing lifecycle, in accordance with applicable international, customer, and aerospace standards.
- Support the definition of manufacturing workflows by participating in the preparation and review of work orders, inspection plans, quality controls, and project specific requirements.
- Manage manufacturing quality incidents and non conformities, providing support to Product Assurance in the resolution of NCRs and corrective actions.
- Ensure proper management of quality records, alerts, statistical quality data, metrology, calibration, and product handling, storage, and transportation conditions.
- Validate final product quality documentation for internal acceptance and customer delivery.
- Ensure compliance with ESD protection, cleanliness, contamination control, and clean room ISO 8 requirements.
- Act as functional reference for shop floor inspectors, providing technical guidance and validation of inspection activities.
Education and Requirements
To be considered for this position, candidates should meet the following requirements:
- University degree in Industrial, Aerospace, Mechanical, Electronics Engineering, or a related scientific technical field.
- Training or experience in composite materials manufacturing and/or inspection processes.
- Previous experience in quality assurance, manufacturing quality, or inspection activities within an industrial or aerospace environment is valued.
- Knowledge of quality management systems and applicable standards; familiarity with ESA/ECSS requirements for composite substrates is a strong asset.
- English proficiency (spoken and written) at an intermediate to advanced level, suitable for technical documentation and professional communication.
Technical Competencies
Candidates should demonstrate strong knowledge and experience in the following areas:
- Composite materials, basic mechanics, and manufacturing processes.
- Quality control techniques, inspection methods, and use of measurement equipment.
- Validation of manufacturing and inspection processes.
- Management of non-conformities, corrective actions, and quality records.
- Understanding of traceability, documentation control, and product acceptance criteria in regulated industries.
- Familiarity with clean room operations, ESD control, and contamination management.
