The Opportunity
They are seeking a Senior Database Administrator to own and optimise SQL Server environments supporting a global customer base.
Clients operate across both SaaS and self-hosted deployments, each with distinct performance and operational requirements. This role is highly hands-on, focusing on performance, stability, and consistency across complex, data-intensive workloads. You will work closely with Engineering and clients to ensure databases operate predictably, efficiently, and at scale.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and optimise SQL Server instances across SaaS and client-hosted environments
- Analyse and tune auto-generated and ORM-driven SQL
- Lead indexing, statistics, and query optimisation for high-volume workloads
- Maintain database hygiene, including fragmentation, growth planning, and maintenance jobs
- Diagnose client database issues and recommend performance improvements
- Implement monitoring, alerting, and performance baselines
- Review schema changes and advise on efficient data access patterns
- Support incidents and lead database-related root cause analysis
About You
- 7+ years’ experience as a SQL Server DBA in enterprise or large-scale environments
- Strong expertise in T-SQL, execution plans, indexing, and SQL Server internals
- Experience with Azure SQL, Managed Instance, and VM-hosted SQL Server
- Proven ability to tune auto-generated SQL and identify structural bottlenecks
- Confident working directly with clients on technical issues
- Solid grounding in security, backups, HA/DR, and resilience
