Data Engineer (Azure) – Contract
Location: Texas (Remote)
Contract Duration: 12 Months

Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Data Engineer with strong Microsoft Azure expertise to support the design, development, and optimization of modern data platforms. This is a 12-month remote contract role supporting teams based in Texas. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience building scalable, cloud-based data pipelines and working with large datasets in Azure environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines using Azure data services
- Build and optimize ETL/ELT workflows for structured and unstructured data
- Implement and manage data solutions using Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, and Azure Data Lake
- Develop and optimize SQL queries and data models for analytics and reporting
- Collaborate with data architects, analysts, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions
- Ensure data quality, reliability, and performance across data platforms
- Implement best practices for data security, governance, and compliance
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize data workflows and system performance
- Support cloud data migrations and modernization initiatives
Required Qualifications
- 6+ years of experience as a Data Engineer or similar role
- Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure data services
- Proficiency in Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, and Azure Data Lake
- Advanced SQL skills and experience with relational databases
- Experience building batch and/or streaming data pipelines
- Strong understanding of data modeling and data warehousing concepts
- Experience with Python, Spark, or similar data processing frameworks
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Databricks and PySpark
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices in Azure
- Experience working in agile development environments
- Exposure to BI tools such as Power BI
- Prior experience in enterprise or large-scale data environments
