About The Role

The Emerging UI team at Cash App is at the forefront of designing the next generation of user experiences, focusing on emerging interfaces such as AI-driven features and core surface interactions. This role is ideal for a creative and strategic designer who is passionate about building visually compelling and intuitive systems from concept to implementation. Reporting directly to the Head of Product Design, the successful candidate will lead the visual design evolution of Cash App, shaping how users interact with the platform across mobile and web. The role involves collaborating closely with cross-functional teams—including product, engineering, and brand—to develop innovative UI solutions that embody the Cash App brand and enhance user engagement. The designer will also contribute to building and maintaining a comprehensive design system, ensuring consistency and scalability across all product surfaces. This position offers a unique opportunity to influence the future of financial technology and help empower users to better manage their money through cutting-edge design and technology.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience on creative teams within technical environments
• 8+ years of experience in software design, visual design, interaction design, UX, and prototyping
• Proven expertise in building and evolving mobile and web applications
• Strong understanding of systems thinking, visual aesthetics, and product design principles
• Experience applying research, usability testing, and metrics to inform design decisions
• Proficiency in defining motion libraries and data visualization components
• Experience collaborating with cross-disciplinary teams, including front-end engineering (iOS/Android)
• Ability to conduct and lead user research and cross-functional workshops
• Exceptional presentation, communication, and evangelization skills
• Experience designing for inclusivity, accessibility, and international audiences
• Portfolio or deck demonstrating relevant work and design thinking
  
  

Responsibilities

• Lead the visual and experiential evolution of Cash App’s user interface, ensuring alignment with brand identity and product goals
• Drive AI-first design approaches, integrating emerging technologies into user experiences
• Shape core UI elements, including data visualizations, motion design, and interaction patterns
• Develop and maintain comprehensive design systems, documentation, and asset libraries for consistency and scalability
• Own the end-to-end design process, from initial concepts through to final implementation and refinement
• Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and brand teams to translate requirements into innovative designs
• Provide creative guidance and mentorship to other designers, fostering a high-quality design culture
• Contribute to strategic discussions on product direction and emerging interface opportunities
• Solicit and give feedback to continually elevate design quality and user experience
• Support accessibility and inclusivity initiatives to ensure broad usability across diverse audiences
