About The Role
The Cloud Infrastructure Engineer at Scout Motors will play a vital role in designing, implementing, and maintaining the company's cloud infrastructure platform. This position involves collaborating with cross-functional teams including software development, security, and product management to build scalable, reliable, and secure cloud solutions. The role requires expertise in modern Infrastructure as Code practices, container orchestration such as Kubernetes (EKS), and cloud services from providers like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud. The engineer will develop automation tools, CI/CD pipelines, and monitoring solutions to ensure high availability and optimal performance of the company's digital infrastructure. Based initially in Fremont, CA, or remotely, this position offers flexibility with a potential future relocation to Scout Motors' headquarters. The role may require in-person attendance up to two days a week and occasional travel for company events or meetings.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience
- 8+ years of professional experience as a DevOps, Cloud, or Site Reliability Engineer
- Proficiency in automation scripting languages such as Python, Shell, Ruby, etc.
- Strong experience with containerization technologies including Docker and Kubernetes
- Expertise in configuration management tools like Ansible, Chef, or Puppet
- Solid understanding of CI/CD pipelines and tools such as GitHub Actions, GitLab Pipelines, Harness.io, or ArgoCD
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform, Pulumi, or Cloud Development Kit (CDK)
- Excellent troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
- Design, implement, and maintain cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices
- Collaborate with software development and systems integration teams to build end-to-end solutions
- Design and manage infrastructure utilizing container orchestration platforms such as EKS/Kubernetes
- Select and implement managed cloud services aligned with platform engineering needs
- Develop and optimize CI/CD pipelines, automation, and deployment practices to support agile development
- Ensure infrastructure components are highly available, reliable, scalable, and performant
- Implement monitoring and logging solutions to proactively identify and troubleshoot issues
- Work closely with security teams to ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices
- Participate in cross-functional team meetings, providing technical guidance and support
