Who You Are
The ideal candidate must be skilled in Active Directory, Windows Server, Azure AD, and Cloud platforms. Identity management, privileged access management, vulnerability and compliance management and security of resources are primary components for this position. Skilled in using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems; in solving problems; in scheduling, testing, installing, and implementing system software; and in troubleshooting computer systems.
What You Will Do
As a Systems Administrator III-IV, you will perform complex to highly complex (senior-level) systems administration work, including the upkeep, configuration, and reliable operation of our core systems. You will install and upgrade computer components and system software and provide technical guidance to other team members. Work is performed under general to limited supervision, with moderate to considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment, with opportunities to collaborate with senior administrators on major projects.
You Will Be Trusted To
- Maintain workstation/server data integrity by using appropriate software and hardware solutions along with implementing a schedule of backups for data archiving.
- Configure automation routines using scripting and other programming languages.
- Study existing information processing systems to evaluate effectiveness and develop new systems to improve production or workflow as required.
- Coordinate, plan, and schedule the installation of or training for new or revised systems and define business process requirements.
- Define and manage the roles and access privileges of individual network entities’ users and devices within a variety of applications to prevent unauthorized access.
- Assist with performing analysis and write-ups of simple and complex projects, migrations, and software upgrades.
- Assist with performing scans, research, identifying appropriate resolution, tests resolution.
- Assist with ensuring systems are brought into the closest level of compliance with required standards, frameworks, best practices possible, while keeping systems operational for business.
- Work closely with vendors, especially those related to Texas Private Cloud and Public Cloud Management.
- Maintain a dependable work schedule and be available for occasional or regular work outside of standard business hours to ensure operational continuity and timely completion of critical tasks.
- Participate in an on-call rotation.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Two years proficiency with supported versions of Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, AD PKI, AD DNS, ADFS, Azure AD Connect & Azure Active Directory.
- Experience maintaining and supporting Windows Server 2016 or newer with senior-level proficiency in vulnerability remediation, patching and compliance management, and general ITIL functions.
- Junior-level PowerShell, WMI, and other scripting ability across most previously mentioned preferred qualifications.
- Advanced troubleshooting, researching, and analysis abilities.
- Ability to gather system requirements and prepare technical documentation quickly, concisely, and accurately.
- Ability to work independently while coordinating work efforts with others.
- Previous State of Texas experience with DSTS program.
- Systems Administrator III: One year and six months of experience in systems administration work.
- Systems Administrator IV: Two years of experience in systems administration work.
- Both Levels: Relevant academic credits may be applied toward experience qualifications for this position.
