About The Role

BigBear.ai is seeking an experienced and hands-on Principal UI/UX Designer to lead the design of our next-generation SaaS applications. This role is pivotal in shaping user experiences for digital twin, simulation, and operational dashboard solutions that are used across critical industries. As a key member of our design team, you will be responsible for end-to-end product design, from initial research and ideation through prototyping, testing, and final visual implementation. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in enterprise IaaS/SaaS product design, with demonstrated leadership in UI/UX, and a passion for creating impactful, user-centered solutions. This fully remote position offers the chance to collaborate with some of AI's brightest minds and contribute to products that address real-world challenges.

Qualifications

• 14+ years of relevant experience in UI/UX design or related field
• Demonstrated leadership in design roles, including mentorship and organizational influence
• Excellent portfolio showcasing product design projects, particularly in enterprise SaaS/IaaS environments
• Experience working within agile development teams
• Proficiency with wireframing and prototyping tools such as Figma, Axure, or Sketch
• Experience designing in the simulation, analytics, machine learning, or data visualization domains
• Understanding of front-end technologies including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React, or Angular
• Strong visual design skills with an eye for detail and usability
• Ability to collaborate effectively with product managers, engineers, and stakeholders
• Preferred: Master’s degree in related field
• Preferred: Experience with AI tools like OpenAI or generative design technologies
  
  

Responsibilities

• Lead and execute hands-on UI/UX design for SaaS products, focusing on digital twin, simulation, and operational dashboards
• Manage the entire design process from research, ideation, prototyping, testing, to final visual design
• Develop, maintain, and scale the enterprise design system to ensure consistency and high impact across products
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including product, engineering, and stakeholders to align user experience with strategic goals
• Mentor junior designers, elevate organizational design standards, and promote user-centered design practices
• Contribute to a variety of projects outside the core SaaS product line, supporting broader organizational initiatives
• Encourage the adoption of AI-enhanced, data-driven design approaches and new workflows
• Stay current with emerging design trends, tools, and technologies to continuously improve design quality and efficiency
