About The Role
We are seeking a talented Staff Software Developer to join our remote team in the USA at Parsec, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Unity. In this role, you will be instrumental in advancing our ultra-low latency, high-performance remote desktop technology, which empowers creative professionals, businesses, and individuals to work, collaborate, and play from anywhere. Parsec’s core product, a low latency game streaming application, is the foundation of our success and the primary interface for our customers. As a senior member of our native development team, you will drive innovation, improve our core technology stack, and mentor junior engineers. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge gaming technology, including video rendering and network protocols, with a focus on delivering seamless, low-latency experiences to a global user base.
Qualifications
- Hands-on experience working with production-level C codebases
- Proficiency in macOS application development, including IOKit, CoreGraphics, and input/window management
- Experience developing and shipping native Windows desktop applications
- Strong desire to learn, improve products, and prioritize customer satisfaction
- Experience working with globally distributed teams
- Familiarity with Linux/Ubuntu application development (preferred)
- Experience with Windows Driver development (preferred)
- Passion for gaming and familiarity with gaming technology (a plus)
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to tackle complex technical challenges
- Strong communication skills in English, both verbal and written
Responsibilities
- Collaborate across multiple disciplines including UI, encoding/decoding, networking, and input management to enhance our product on various platforms
- Jump into existing C codebases confidently and deploy reliable, maintainable code to a global user base exceeding 5 million users
- Innovate in gaming technology, working on video rendering, UDP protocols, and other low-latency solutions
- Identify and implement the most effective low-latency solutions to meet technical challenges
- Gather and analyze customer feedback to interpret community needs and identify opportunities for product enhancement
- Mentor junior engineers, fostering a collaborative and innovative team environment
- Stay updated with emerging technologies and industry best practices to continuously improve product performance and reliability
