We are seeking a talented Senior Data Scientist to become a vital part of our dynamic Data Assets, Analytics and AI Platform at Bayer Consumer Health. In this role, you will play a pivotal role in implementing global, cutting-edge AI solutions across commercial, product supply, marketing, and R&D domains.

Our diverse, international team, spanning Poland and Germany, is dedicated to managing the entire product life cycle – from proof of concept to the seamless operation of fully industrialized products. We pride ourselves on delivering innovative solutions that leverage traditional Machine Learning, Generative AI, and Mathematical Optimization, all powered by a modern tech stack featuring Python, Azure/AWS and Databricks.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities:

• Develops, implements, evaluates, and refines mathematical optimization models and algorithms to solve complex business problems, ensuring efficient and effective solutions.
• Creates, employs, evaluates, and maintains classical machine learning models, including time series forecasting and classification, as well as generative AI models to drive actionable insights and align with business goals.
• Extracts valuable information from large structured and unstructured datasets, identifying key variables and metrics that influence consumer behavior, commercial activities, product supply, R&D and RMSQC.
• Builds prototypes to prove modeling concepts.
• Industrializes and scales up successful advanced analytics prototypes into IT products.
• Creates intuitive and interactive data visualizations, reporting tools and dashboards to communicate complex analytical findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders as well as enable scenario creation and management.
• Develops generalized frameworks and libraries for repetitive data science activities.
• Participates in exploratory projects that investigate new data sources, tools, and analytical techniques, keeping Bayer at the forefront of data science in the consumer health sector.
• Builds data processing pipelines, analyzes data used for modelling and performs other data related activities if required.
• Manages code in Github repositories and performs peer code reviews.
• Fosters a culture of continuous learning within the data science team, taking active part in workshops and training sessions to share knowledge and skills.
• Presents compelling data driven stories to all levels of the organization, including peers, senior management, and internal customers to drive both strategic and operational changes in the business.
• Acts as a subject matter expert in data science, advising on best practices and emerging technologies that can enhance Bayer Consumer Health’s data science capabilities.
• Act as technical lead for smaller AI initiatives.
  
  

Qualifications & Competencies (education, skills, experience):

• MSc in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Statistics, Mathematics, Quantitative Finance/Economics/Marketing, or a related discipline.
• 5+ years of experience in data-related roles.
• Practical experience in mathematical optimization, with additional experience in one of the following areas: machine learning, generative AI, forecasting.
• Proficiency in Python and SQL, with experience utilizing optimization libraries and frameworks.
• Experience in using a version control system.
• Familiarity with generative AI, e.g. understanding of the technology, its strengths and weaknesses, application areas, prompt engineering, context engineering.
• Ability to write production grade code using object-oriented programming paradigm.
• Experience scaling products from initial concept to production.
• Solid experience with data science frameworks such Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-learn, Spark.
• Experience with cloud computing platforms, specifically Azure or AWS.
• Familiarity with Databricks.
• Solid experience in data analysis, debugging, experiment design, and evaluation.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Interpersonal and communication skills, active listening, consulting, challenging, presentation skills.
• Ability to work independently on advanced analytics IT products.
• Ability to propose methodologies of solving complex data science problems.
• Fluent in English, both written & spoken.
