Senior Network Security Firewall Engineer (Fortinet/Palo Alto) - 100% remote (EST Hours)


Optomi, in partnership with an enterprise client in the healthcare space, is looking to add a Network Security Firewall Engineer to their team to help with a major firewall migration! The client is looking to move from Palo Alto to Fortinet.


They will migrate data from 300 clinics into their healthcare system and transition the firewall infrastructure from Palo Alto to Fortinet. This role requires a senior-level professional who can lead this effort effectively. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in firewall management and VPN configurations, particularly in migrating environments from Palo Alto to Fortinet.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the migration of various VPN tunnels from Palo Alto to Fortinet 3000 series firewalls.
  • Configure and standardize B2B level VPN builds to ensure reliable connectivity for all clinics.
  • Develop and manage the migration strategy for both new and existing VPN connections from the Palo Alto environment to Fortinet.
  • Collaborate with the Network Security team to build out and verify all aspects of VPN configurations, ensuring robust and secure connections.
  • Mentor mid-level engineers, providing guidance and support during the transition process.
  • Work closely with network infrastructure teams to fulfill requests for VPN tunnel setups, targeting approximately 20 builds per day.
  • Maintain a fluid understanding of the evolving network security landscape, including the integration of Zscaler into the architecture.


Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in migrating firewall environments, specifically from Palo Alto to Fortinet.
  • Strong understanding of VPN configurations, with a minimum of 2 years of experience in building and managing secure VPN tunnels.
  • Familiarity with the Fortinet 901 series and SDWAN services.
  • Knowledge of both Palo Alto and Fortinet firewall technologies is essential.
  • Experience with ServiceNow is a plus.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong communication skills to facilitate teamwork and project coordination.
  • Extensive Cyber Security experience
