One of our sports, betting, and gaming clients is looking for a freelance UX/UI Designer to help craft intuitive, engaging, and visually compelling experiences for fantasy sports enthusiasts.
This freelance UX/UI Designer will be coming onboard to help with a key project, collaborating with product and engineering teams to design user flows, interfaces, and interactions that make playing, tracking, and winning in fantasy sports feel seamless and fun.
The freelance UX/UI Designer must have direct experience with fantasy sports, sports betting, or related gaming products, and be able to speak the language of players, bettors, and sports fans. If you’ve worked on live scoring, lineups, drafts, parlays, or odds displays, we want to see it in your portfolio.
Ideal freelance UX/UI Designers will have:
- At least 3-5+ years of experience in UX/UI, Product Design, or a related role working on consumer-facing digital products.
- Portfolio that showcases strong UX thinking, interaction design, and visual design for complex, data-rich or real-time products.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present work and articulate design decisions clearly.
- Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and deliver on deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Proven experience as a UX/UI Designer, Product Designer, or similar role working on consumer-facing digital products.
- Direct experience with fantasy sports, sports betting, or gaming platforms is strongly preferred (DFS, season-long, pick’em, player props, odd sheets, etc.).
- Portfolio that showcases strong UX thinking, interaction design, and visual design for complex, data-rich or real-time products.
- Ability to “talk the talk” of fantasy sports and betting: comfortable with concepts like lineups, ADP, line movement, spreads/totals, live odds, and user engagement loops.
- Experience designing for responsive web and/or native mobile (iOS/Android).
- Understanding of UX best practices, accessibility considerations, and design systems.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced, iterative environment, collaborating with remote stakeholders if needed.
What We’re Looking For
- A designer who is deeply user-centric but also understands engagement, retention, and monetization in fantasy and betting contexts.
- Someone who can confidently discuss and design around concepts like onboarding, contest discovery, bet slips, drafting, live scoring, notifications, and user dashboards.
- Great communicator with an ability to explain design choices and gather feedback effectively.
- A collaborative partner who can jump into an existing product, quickly understand it, and start improving the experience.
Job Responsibilities
- Design end-to-end user experiences for web and/or mobile fantasy sports and betting-related features (from discovery and wireframes to high-fidelity UI).
- Create user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and final UI designs that are clear, consistent, and optimized for engagement and conversion.
- Collaborate closely with product managers, engineers, and stakeholders to translate requirements and data into intuitive designs.
- Apply design patterns and best practices specific to fantasy sports, sports betting, and real-time data experiences.
- Use user feedback, analytics, and A/B testing results to iterate and improve designs.
- Maintain and contribute to a cohesive design system, ensuring visual and interaction consistency across experiences.
- Clearly communicate design decisions and rationale to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Prepare production-ready design specs, assets, and documentation for handoff to engineering.
Technical Skills & Requirements
Design & Prototyping Tool
- Strong proficiency in Figma (preferred) or similar tools (Sketch, Adobe XD) for UI design, prototyping, and design systems.
- Experience creating interactive prototypes using Figma, InVision, Axure, or similar tooling to communicate flows and interactions.

UX Research & Testing
- Ability to create user flows, journey maps, and information architectures using tools like FigJam, Miro, or similar whiteboarding tools.

Design Systems & Hand-off

- Ability to organize files, components, and documentation for scalable collaboration with product and engineering teams.
- Comfort collaborating with developers using shared tools (e.g., Figma handoff, Zeplin, Abstract, or similar).
Front-End & Technical Fluency
- Solid understanding of basic front-end technologies: HTML5, CSS3, and responsive design principles.
- Familiarity with common UI frameworks and patterns (e.g., Bootstrap, Material Design) and how they impact layout, spacing, and components.
- Basic understanding of high-performance backend services using Golang, PostgreSQL, AWS (ECS, Lambda, SQS, RDS/Aurora, etc.)
- Ability to read and discuss simple JavaScript behaviors (e.g., states, transitions, form validation) with engineers, even if you are not writing production code.
