About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Machine Learning Engineer to join our remote team based in the USA. In this strategic role, you will lead the development and implementation of advanced machine learning solutions that enhance Unity’s advertising networks, marketplaces, and audience tools. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to drive innovation, optimize existing models, and establish Unity as a leader in applied machine learning within the gaming and interactive experiences industry. Your expertise will be pivotal in translating research insights into practical, scalable applications that deliver measurable business impact. This position offers the opportunity to work remotely, collaborate with global teams, and influence the future of Unity’s advertising and user engagement strategies.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field.
• Minimum of three (3) years of professional experience as a Data Scientist or in a related role.
• Proven experience in translating research into practical applications, particularly in developing recommendation systems and user profiling for gaming advertisements.
• Hands-on experience with TensorFlow and PyTorch, including understanding of various model architectures and mechanisms to improve user engagement and ad network performance.
• Strong analytical skills with experience in evaluating model performance using deep dive methodologies and statistical bias analysis.
• Experience analyzing data trends and patterns using tools such as Looker and Imply to inform decision-making.
• Excellent communication skills to effectively define requirements and collaborate with product and engineering teams.
• Ability to stay current with the latest advancements in machine learning research and incorporate innovative solutions into organizational practices.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development, deployment, and optimization of machine learning applications across Unity’s advertising ecosystem.
• Stay abreast of cutting-edge research in machine learning to continuously enhance organizational capabilities.
• Refine and optimize machine learning practices to position Unity as an industry leader in this domain.
• Formulate hypotheses related to modeling and datasets, validate these through rigorous analysis, and develop strategic roadmaps for implementation.
• Define technical requirements and communicate needs effectively to product and engineering teams to ensure alignment with organizational goals.
• Drive innovation by proposing and implementing new algorithms and methodologies to improve ad targeting, user engagement, and overall system performance.
• Analyze model performance using statistical and deep dive methodologies, identifying areas for improvement and executing refinement strategies.
• Evaluate data trends and patterns to troubleshoot challenges and inform strategic decisions in machine learning applications.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of machine learning solutions into existing systems and workflows.
