Job Description
Our manufacturing client looking for a designer who lives and breathes color, patterns and textures to help shape the visual and tactile language of their interior acoustic product lines. This role sits at the intersection of Textile, Interior, industrial and CMF product design. Using aesthetics, texture, pattern, and curated color to convey a strong visual brand language through creative storytelling. Youβll work onsite in the Dallas office, collaborating closely with industrial designers and fabrication teams to create products that are not only beautiful, but also manufacturable and acoustically effective.
Candidates with textile experience (fabrics, soft goods, wall coverings, etc) are strongly preferred. Familiarity with generative parametric/computational design software like Rhino and Grasshopper is also a plus.
Relocation assistance to Dallas can be provided for the right candidate.
Responsibilities
Strategy & Concept Development
β Develop seasonal and long-term directions (color palettes, patterns, textures) for acoustic products used in commercial architecture to elevate interior spaces.
β Create mood boards, trend boards, and narratives that tie into brand, market trends, and project needs.
β Translate interior design and architecture trends into actionable strategies for product lines and custom solutions.
Pattern & Surface Design
β Design surface patterns, textures, and visual compositions for wall, ceiling, and partition acoustic systems.
β Explore scale, repeat, rhythm, and layering in patterns to enhance both aesthetics and acoustic performance.
β Create detailed spec sheets and artwork files for production (including color callouts, texture, pattern repeats, and material notes).
Cross-Functional Collaboration
β Collaborate with interior designers and industrial/product designers to ensure concepts are integrated elegantly into overall design solutions.
β Work closely with management, production, and fabrication to align intent with manufacturing constraints and cost targets.
β Prepare and present presentations for internal reviews, client meetings, and product launches.
Standards, Documentation & Quality
β Create and maintain guidelines, specification documents, and finish schedules for product lines and custom projects.
β Review prototypes, first articles, and production samples to ensure they align with the original intent.
β Support quality teams in resolving color/finish issues and improving consistency across batches.
Qualifications
Required
β Bachelorβs degree in Interior Design, Industrial Design, Textile Design, CMF or a related field.
β 2β5+ years of industry specific experience or interior product design role (experience with interior architectural products, wall systems, ceilings, or furniture is a big plus).
β Strong Background In
- Color theory and color systemization (palettes, harmonies, neutrals vs accent strategies).
- Texture creation (creating 3D elevations from a 2D surface)
- Pattern creation (repeats, scaling, composition, and material-driven patterning).
β Demonstrated portfolio showcasing interior product design work and interior-related projects.
β Comfortable working in a fast-paced, highly collaborative, on-site environment.
β Strong communication skills, with the ability to present and explain directions to both creative and technical stakeholders.
Preferred
β Experience with acoustic products, wall panels, ceilings, or architectural systems.
β Familiarity with manufacturing processes related to printing, laminating, textiles, or CNC-cut materials.
β Understanding of sustainability in materials (low-VOC finishes, recycled content, circularity considerations).
β Basic knowledge of CAD/Revit/SketchUp or other 3D tools to visualize products in space.
Work Environment
β On-site role based in the Dallas, TX area β this position requires regular in-office presence to collaborate with the team and work directly with physical samples, prototypes, and mockups.
