The Business Intelligence Developer will lead the hands-on development of Power BI reports, dashboards, and SQL queries to support data-driven decision-making. This role focuses on building clear, user-focused visualizations and ensuring data accuracy, performance, and compliance. The developer will work across the full BI lifecycle, collaborate with stakeholders, and support technical improvement efforts.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with cross-functional teams and vendors to translate business needs into aligned, integrated BI solutions
- Design, develop, and maintain intuitive Power BI dashboards and reports for operational and analytical use
- Optimize data models and queries to ensure speed, accuracy, and scalability
- Troubleshoot reporting issues and provide ongoing technical support
- Lead training to support adoption of BI tools
- Identify and recommend new BI tools, features, or enhancements to improve the overall analytics environment
- Ensure data governance, accuracy, and compliance
- Perform ad hoc queries and deliver clear reporting insights
- Participate in Agile delivery, including documentation, sprint planning, and story estimation
- Support and lead user acceptance testing (UAT) efforts
- Mentor junior BI team members when needed
- Build domain knowledge of business operations and goals
- Ensure compliance with company policies and industry regulations
- 10+ years: Hands-on Power BI experience, including report creation, M Query, DAX, and data modeling
- 5+ years: MS SQL Server (2014+), Standard and Enterprise editions
- ADVANCED data storytelling and UI/UX design skills for reporting
- SQL Server programming and the Microsoft BI suite
- Clear communication skills; able to explain technical decisions to business users
- Demonstrated ability to mentor others and lead projects
- Strong collaboration skills and communication effectively with stakeholders
- Degree in related field
