Power BI Developer / Fortune 150 / Medical Device

Duration: 1+ Year

Location: Remote or Raritan, NJ preferred

The Business Intelligence Developer will lead the hands-on development of Power BI reports, dashboards, and SQL queries to support data-driven decision-making. This role focuses on building clear, user-focused visualizations and ensuring data accuracy, performance, and compliance. The developer will work across the full BI lifecycle, collaborate with stakeholders, and support technical improvement efforts.

Job Description:

The Business Intelligence Developer will lead the hands-on development of Power BI reports, dashboards, and SQL queries to support data-driven decision-making. This role focuses on building clear, user-focused visualizations and ensuring data accuracy, performance, and compliance. The developer will work across the full BI lifecycle, collaborate with stakeholders, and support technical improvement efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams and vendors to translate business needs into aligned, integrated BI solutions
  • Design, develop, and maintain intuitive Power BI dashboards and reports for operational and analytical use
  • Optimize data models and queries to ensure speed, accuracy, and scalability
  • Troubleshoot reporting issues and provide ongoing technical support
  • Lead training to support adoption of BI tools
  • Identify and recommend new BI tools, features, or enhancements to improve the overall analytics environment
  • Ensure data governance, accuracy, and compliance
  • Perform ad hoc queries and deliver clear reporting insights
  • Participate in Agile delivery, including documentation, sprint planning, and story estimation
  • Support and lead user acceptance testing (UAT) efforts
  • Mentor junior BI team members when needed
  • Build domain knowledge of business operations and goals
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and industry regulations

Requirements

  • 10+ years: Hands-on Power BI experience, including report creation, M Query, DAX, and data modeling
  • 5+ years: MS SQL Server (2014+), Standard and Enterprise editions
  • ADVANCED data storytelling and UI/UX design skills for reporting
  • SQL Server programming and the Microsoft BI suite
  • Clear communication skills; able to explain technical decisions to business users
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor others and lead projects
  • Strong collaboration skills and communication effectively with stakeholders
  • Degree in related field
