Senior Full Stack WordPress & PHP Developer (Remote, Independent Contractor)

We’re helping a Swiss-based digital agency find a Senior Web Designer & Developer (WordPress/PHP) to join their long-term, international team.

You’ll take full ownership of web development and design — both back-end and front-end — working on complex, high-quality WordPress builds, custom PHP systems, and e-commerce platforms. You’ll collaborate with developers and designers across Switzerland, Latvia, and Spain, ensuring flawless technical execution and visually refined design.

This is a senior-level, hands-on position for someone with strong technical expertise, proactive communication, and a long-term mindset.

Full-Time (Long-Term)

Schedule: Swiss working hours (GMT+2)

Location: Fully Remote

Engagement: Independent Contractor

Start Date: ASAP

Rate: $2400–$3200/month (depending on level of experience)

Key Responsibilities

• Build and maintain custom WordPress and PHP applications, ensuring high performance and scalability
• Modify and optimize existing PHP codebases, implementing efficient logic and caching
• Take the full lead on both front-end and back-end development and design
• Design and refine front-end layouts and visual components using Figma
• Collaborate on responsive web design and UI improvements via Figma prototypes
• Work with custom theme builders (UTheme, WooTheme) and advanced theme customization
• Implement front-end integrations using JavaScript, jQuery, HTML, and CSS
• Architect and optimize databases for speed and reliability (not relying solely on ACF)
• Manage caching layers, cookie rules, and overall performance optimization
• Use Git for version control, clean commits, and branch management
• Collaborate with designers, PMs, and developers across multiple international projects
• Maintain clear, proactive communication and take ownership of deliverables
  
  

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional experience as a Full Stack WordPress / PHP Developer
• Expert-level PHP & WordPress: deep knowledge of hooks, filters, post types, taxonomies, and theme architecture
• Experience with custom theme builders (UTheme Builder, WooTheme)
• Intermediate–Advanced JavaScript/jQuery for dynamic interfaces
• Strong HTML/CSS skills for clean, responsive UI builds
• Understanding of database architecture, data structuring, and caching logic
• Comfortable using Git and working within version-controlled environments
• Excellent English communication (written & spoken)
• Proven experience working in agency-style environments handling multiple projects
• High attention to detail — flawless work is non-negotiable; you double-check your own output

• Exposure to membership sites, funnel systems, or payment integrations
