About the Role
Lockheed Martin’s Artificial Intelligence Center (LAIC) is hiring an AI Applications Software Engineer to support the AI Consulting team within Enterprise Operations. This role focuses on developing, testing, deploying, and maintaining AI-enabled applications in a DevSecOps environment. You will work closely with other AI engineers to deliver solutions that drive innovation and business value across the enterprise.
This is a hands-on role suited to an experienced engineer comfortable working with modern development practices, emerging AI tooling, and production-grade deployments.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Develop, test, deploy, and maintain AI-enabled applications using agile and DevSecOps practices.
- Upgrade and enhance existing applications and algorithms for scalability and robustness.
- Convert pilot applications into production-ready and commercialization-ready solutions.
- Lead the adoption of software development standards for AI applications.
- Work effectively in a virtual environment with periodic travel to Lockheed Martin sites.
Basic Qualifications
- Proficiency in Python and at least one of: JavaScript, TypeScript, Go, or Rust.
- Familiarity with REST APIs, web services, and container platforms such as Kubernetes or OpenShift.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins, GitLab, or GitHub Actions.
- Experience working with structured databases and unstructured data stores, including vector databases.
- Proven experience taking applications from pilot to production and maintaining them in enterprise environments.
Desired Skills
- Experience with AI modeling, including GenAI and traditional machine learning.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure.
- Experience creating engineering documentation and development standards.
- Background in modernizing legacy applications.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Familiarity with agile development and infrastructure as code practices.

Compensation and Benefits
Salary ranges vary by state and location:
- Major metro areas in CA, MA, NY: 107,300 to 185,840 USD
- Other listed states including CO, HI, IL, MD, MN, NJ, VT, WA, DC: 93,200 to 164,450 USD
- Final salary depends on experience, location, skills, and business considerations.

- This position is incentive-plan eligible.
