Job Description


Insight Global is seeking Distribution Designers to join an Engineering Consulting firm in the Charlotte area. They will be responsible for designing and redesigning power distribution layouts for a large Energy Supplier in the Carolinas under the direct supervision of the engineering manager. They will be tasked with designing layouts and redesigning grids for the client as needed. The ideal candidate will have a background in power or utilities distribution or is a recent graduate with a strong will to learn and grow with a company. This position will cover North and South Carolina. This person will design and coordinate the maintenance, relocation, and new construction of the power grid. This position encompasses various responsibilities including, but not limited to, Fieldwork, CAD Application, Environmental Compliance Oversight, and submitting applications for Right of Way Easements, DOT Encroachment, and Railroad & Transmission Permit.


Must Haves:

  • Design software experience
  • SolidWorks/MicroStation/AutoCad or any 2D or 3D drafting software experience


Plusses:

  • Experience as AutoCAD drafter/technician in telecom, electrical, or utilities field Internship or Sr. Capstone Project Engineering degree (mechanical, civil, electrical, industrial)
  • Bachelor’s degree in one of the following: Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Civil/Industrial Engineering (can be a fresh graduate)
  • Duke Energy experience Power Distribution experience
  • Leadership experience
  • Telecom design experience
