QA Engineer III β Remote (12-Month Contract)
Location: Fully Remote

About the Role
We are seeking a QA Engineer III to join a fast-paced technology team responsible for ensuring the quality of a consumer-facing web application used for credit card application and onboarding experiences.
This role is primarily focused on manual front-end/UI testing, with additional responsibilities involving Cypress automation, SQL/data validation, and cross-team collaboration. The ideal candidate has strong communication skills, deep experience in functional/UI testing, and a background working in banking, financial services, or similarly regulated industries.
π§ Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Execute manual UI and functional testing for web-based customer application flows.
- Review business and functional requirements and translate them into detailed test plans, test cases, and test scripts.
- Perform Cypress automation for regression and repeatable workflows (secondary focus).
- Use SQL queries (DB2 preferred) to validate backend data, decisioning results, and application behavior.
- Log and track defects using Jira, ensuring clear documentation and communication across teams.
- Manage test cases, test cycles, and reporting in qTest.
- Support first-event validation, release readiness testing, and post-deployment verification.
- Collaborate with developers, analysts, product owners, and project managers throughout the full SDLC.
- Provide test progress updates, defect metrics, risk assessments, and status reporting.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies including standups, sprint reviews, and backlog refinement.
π Key Responsibilities
- Create comprehensive test strategies, validation plans, and production readiness documentation.
- Identify defects, perform root-cause analysis, and retest fixes.
- Ensure QA coverage meets business rules, regulatory requirements, and quality standards.
- Deliver production validation plans, including back-out options and post-install support documentation.
- Act as a QA point-of-contact during onboarding, enhancement, and integration initiatives.
β Must-Have Skills
- Strong manual UI/front-end testing experience.
- Hands-on experience with Cypress (automation).
- Proficiency with Jira and qTest.
- Strong SQL experience β ideally with DB2, QMF, or SUL.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
π Nice-to-Have Skills
- Additional automation experience with Cypress or Selenium.
- Experience working with credit card systems, consumer lending, or financial services.
- Knowledge of ATDD, SDLC, STLC, and Agile frameworks.
- QA Certifications (ISTQB, CSTP, CAT).
π Qualifications
- Minimum 8+ years of functional testing experience (preferably in Banking/Financial/Insurance).
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field preferred.
