Job Description

Do you have a curiosity for technology and meticulous eye for detail? Are you ready to start or develop your career in software testing within a fast-growing SaaS company?

MyNewTerm is on a mission to digitise recruitment in education and connect schools and candidates directly. In a nutshell, we are a digital SaaS platform enabling schools and MATs to fully digitise their recruitment process while offering candidates a simple, fully compliant way to apply online. Developed by teachers, we are driven by our moral purpose and our commitment to outstanding customer service.

As we continue our rapid growth, we are looking for an enthusiastic Junior Software Tester to join our development team. This is an ideal opportunity for someone early in their QA career who wants to learn, grow, and build real testing experience in a supportive and collaborative engineering environment.

You will join a dynamic team of smart, ambitious individuals who all share a passion for building technology that makes a meaningful difference.

🎯 The role of a Junior Software Tester (QA)

As a Junior Software Tester, you will work closely with our Product Owner, Software Tester and Software Engineers to ensure new and existing features are thoroughly tested before release. This is a hands-on role focused on learning core QA skills, executing tests, identifying issues, and contributing to product quality.

You do not need an automation background to apply, but an interest in learning automated testing over time is welcomed.

🚀 The main responsibilities of a Junior Software Tester1. Manual Testing and Documentation
  • Execute manual test cases for web and mobile components of the platform.
  • Record test results with clarity and accuracy.
  • Log and track bugs using tools such as Jira, providing clear reproduction steps.
  • Support regression testing for new releases and bug fixes.
  • Maintain and update test documentation with guidance from senior colleagues.

2. Test Design Support
  • Assist in reviewing user stories, requirements, and acceptance criteria.
  • Help create simple test cases and scenarios under supervision.
  • Prepare and validate basic test data for test execution.

3. Collaboration and Communication
  • Work closely with Software Engineers and Product colleagues to understand features and expected behaviour.
  • Provide structured feedback on issues, risks and edge cases.
  • Contribute to team discussions about improving overall product quality.

4. Learning and Development
  • Develop knowledge of QA methods, test planning, and defect management.
  • Build skills in exploratory testing and structured test design.
  • Gain exposure to automated testing tools and principles, with support and training provided.

👊 Required Skills, Qualifications and Experience
  • Some experience in software testing, QA, or an IT/technical discipline (could be early career, internship or academic).
  • Strong attention to detail with a logical and analytical mindset.
  • Comfortable documenting test results and writing clear bug reports.
  • Good understanding of the basic software development lifecycle.
  • Confident using technology and learning new tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A proactive, organised and team-focused approach.

👌 Desirable (but not essential)
  • Experience with Jira or similar issue-tracking tools.
  • Exposure to test management tools (TestRail or similar).
  • Basic familiarity with HTML, CSS or JavaScript.
  • Interest in learning automated testing (Selenium, Playwright, or similar).
  • Understanding of basic OO programming principles.
  • Experience or study in Computer Science or related field.

These are nice-to-haves — we do not expect a junior to have everything.
