Job Description

Senior Mobile Engineer (React Native)

Location: Remote (US or Canada) or Hybrid (Los Angeles)

Compensation: $170K–$210K + Competitive Equity

Visa: H1B transfer and other simple visas supported

About the Role

A fast-growing collectibles marketplace is seeking a Senior Mobile Engineer to help scale and evolve its React Native mobile application. The product is entering a major growth phase, expanding into multiple collectible categories beyond trading cards and building advanced consumer experiences—including AI-driven features and gamification systems.

The current mobile team is UK-based, and this hire will bridge a critical collaboration gap with US-based frontend, backend, product, and design teams. You will be the first US-based mobile engineer on the team, providing essential timezone coverage and taking significant ownership over delivery.

This role involves pushing updates and new features directly to the Apple App Store and Google Play with immediate release capabilities—not tied to rigid release cycles.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead development of new features and improvements for a React Native mobile app used by consumer audiences.
  • Collaborate closely with teams across mobile, web frontend, backend, product, and design.
  • Own end-to-end delivery of mobile features—from design, to implementation, to deployment.
  • Manage app store releases with the ability to push updates on-demand.
  • Contribute to architectural decisions as the platform expands into new verticals (watches, shoes, comics, coins, etc.).
  • Work on high-impact consumer features including:
  • AI-driven chat and personalization
  • Advanced gamification systems
  • Marketplace and e-commerce capabilities
  • Influence technical direction during a period of rapid team scaling.

Why This Role Stands Out

  • First US-based mobile engineer joining a high-performing UK team.
  • Opportunity to shape mobile strategy during aggressive international expansion.
  • Work on innovative consumer experiences in a unique digital collectibles ecosystem.
  • Highly collaborative and fun team culture with strong cross-functional engagement.
  • Recently raised $20M and scaling quickly.

Requirements / Experience

  • 5+ years in mobile application development.
  • Strong background building consumer-facing mobile apps.
  • Experience working in early-stage environments or fast-scaling products.
  • Senior or Staff-level engineering experience.
  • Personal apps or side projects demonstrating craftsmanship are a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent practical experience).

Technical Skills

  • Deep expertise in React Native.
  • Strong understanding of both the iOS and Android ecosystems.
  • Proficiency in TypeScript.
  • Familiarity with modern mobile frameworks/tools such as:
  • Rx, IoC/DI
  • Analytics and A/B testing tools
  • Bazel
  • Experience with cloud messaging APIs, push notifications, and mobile e-commerce flows.

Soft Skills

  • Ownership mentality — driven by outcomes, not task lists.
  • Strong communication skills across distributed teams.
  • Ability to collaborate across timezones.

Traits That Are Not a Fit

  • Agency or consulting-heavy backgrounds.
  • Pure iOS/Android engineers without React Native focus.
  • Lack of consumer mobile experience.

Interview Process

4-step structured interview process (details shared upon next steps).
