About The Role

We are seeking an Applied Machine Learning Engineer to join our innovative team and lead the development of our first production-grade, agentic AI solutions. As a founding member of the AI Modernization charter, you will play a pivotal role in designing, building, and deploying advanced AI models that deliver tangible business value to our customers. Your expertise will be instrumental in creating reliable, observable, and scalable AI systems that integrate seamlessly into our platform and customer products. Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience as an ML Engineer, Applied Scientist, or Software Engineer with a focus on AI/ML.
• Proven track record of deploying Large Language Models (LLMs) and Generative AI models into production environments.
• Strong proficiency in Python and familiarity with data science and machine learning libraries such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, and Hugging Face.
• Deep understanding of MLOps principles, including version control, monitoring, and scaling AI services.
• Experience with prompt engineering, data preparation, and vector database technologies.
• Demonstrated ability to translate cutting-edge AI research into practical, customer-focused solutions.
• Excellent collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams including product managers and integration specialists.
  
  

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy end-to-end generative AI applications and agents utilizing modern frameworks like LangChain and LlamaIndex.
• Implement and optimize Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) architectures to ground models in customer-specific data for enhanced performance.
• Establish and execute evaluation frameworks, including A/B testing, to measure model performance and mitigate failure modes such as hallucination.
• Collaborate closely with the Integrations team to ensure seamless incorporation of AI solutions into customer products and the DigitalOcean platform.
• Work alongside the AI Product Manager to translate customer use cases into rapid prototypes and scalable production pilots.
• Continuously monitor, improve, and maintain AI systems for reliability, observability, and performance.
• Stay updated with the latest advancements in AI/ML and incorporate relevant innovations into our offerings.
