Performance Assessment Systems Engineer Location: Huntsville, Alabama

Security Clearance: Active Secret clearance required

Employment Type: Full-Time, Direct Hire

Salary Range: $60,000-$97,000 (commensurate with experience)

Abel Personnel is hiring on behalf of our client for a Performance Assessment Systems Engineer to support Department of Defense initiatives in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

This role offers the opportunity to contribute to mission-critical systems through the development of automated tools, database management, and systems engineering support. The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in software engineering, data analytics, and DevOps pipeline management within a secure, defense-focused environment. Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain software tools to automate system analysis and performance assessment processes.
  • Manage and manipulate databases for data collection, performance tracking, and analysis.
  • Develop and maintain automated tooling pipelines to improve workflow efficiency.
  • Create technical documentation, reports, and presentations to communicate findings and project status.
  • Collaborate as part of an experienced engineering team to produce systems engineering deliverables in accordance with the Architecture and Systems Engineering Management Plan (ASEMP).
  • Support analysis activities and provide recommendations to enhance system performance and reliability. Required Qualifications
  • Active Secret Clearance (must be current and in good standing).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Physics, Mathematics, Science, Engineering, or Software Engineering.
  • Demonstrated experience in systems engineering, software development, or performance analysis.
  • Proficiency with programming languages such as Java, C++, or Python.
  • Knowledge of database management, networking, or data communications.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables and Macros.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to develop and present technical briefings. Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting Department of Defense Information Systems.
  • Hands-on experience with DevOps tools such as Jenkins, GitLab, and HTCondor.
  • Proven ability to develop automated tooling and analytical products to support system or project assessments.
  • Experience preparing and presenting technical chart packages and performance summaries to stakeholders.
