Job Description


Akkodis is seeking a Senior Data Architect for a Contract position, and this is a 100% Remote role. Ideally, looking for applicants with a solid background in Data Architecture, MuleSoft Anypoint, AWS, and API Integration.


Rate Range: $90 - $100 per hour. The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.


Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Data Architect to lead a strategic transformation of our client’s data environment. This role will focus on designing and implementing a modern API-driven architecture that enables seamless data integration and interoperability across systems. The successful candidate will leverage MuleSoft and AWS technologies to build scalable, secure, and efficient data solutions that support academic, administrative, and research initiatives.


Key Responsibilities

  • Architect and Design: Develop a comprehensive data architecture strategy that aligns with the client’s digital transformation goals.
  • API Integration: Lead the design and implementation of API-driven data exchange using MuleSoft for integration and orchestration.
  • Cloud Enablement: Utilize AWS services (e.g., S3, RDS, Lambda, API Gateway, Glue) to build secure, scalable, and cost-effective data solutions.
  • Data Governance: Establish standards for data quality, security, and compliance with regulatory requirements (FERPA, GDPR, etc.).
  • Collaboration: Work closely with IT teams, academic departments, and external vendors to ensure seamless integration and adoption.
  • Performance Optimization: Monitor and optimize data flows, ensuring high availability and reliability.
  • Documentation & Training: Create architectural documentation and guide technical teams on best practices.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in data architecture, integration, or enterprise systems design.
  • Proven expertise in MuleSoft AnyPoint Platform and AWS cloud services.
  • Strong understanding of API design principles, RESTful services, and microservices architecture.
  • Experience with data modeling, ETL processes, and data warehousing.
  • Knowledge of security best practices and compliance frameworks.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in higher education or large-scale enterprise environments.
  • Familiarity with data governance tools and metadata management.
  • AWS certification and/or MuleSoft certification.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
