Punto Pago, a leading super-app in Panama, integrates a wide range of services from electronic payments to a dynamic marketplace, all designed to simplify and enhance everyday transactions. We are seeking a talented Backend Developer to join our team and contribute to our mission of providing seamless and secure financial solutions.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain scalable backend systems using PHP and Node.js.
- Be a part of the distributed team, and work closely with the chief architect, front-end, QA, and Product teams to integrate user-facing elements with server-side logic on numerous platforms, including customer-facing PuntoPago terminals.
- Design and implement APIs for internal and external use.
- Ensure the security and integrity of applications through best practices and regular audits.
- Troubleshoot and debug complex issues across the stack.
- Optimize and refactor legacy code to improve performance and maintainability.
- Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to peers.
- Stay updated with emerging technologies and industry trends to drive innovation.
Requirements:
- Minimum 4 years of experience as a Software Engineer, preferably in the fintech industry.
- Proficiency in PHP and Node.js; experience with C# is desirable but not mandatory.
- Strong knowledge of MySQL and database design principles.
- Experience with legacy code refactoring and optimization.
- Familiarity with RESTful API design and implementation.
- Proficiency in version control systems (e.g., Git).
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of front-end technologies (e.g., HTML, CSS, JavaScript) is a plus.
- Experience with microservices architecture and containerization (e.g., Docker), as well as monolith solutions.
- Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.
- Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and automated testing.
- Experience with message queuing systems (e.g., RabbitMQ, Kafka).
