Job Description

As an AWS DevSecOps Engineer, you will play a critical role in designing, implementing, and securing scalable cloud infrastructure that supports mission-critical applications. You will integrate security throughout the software development lifecycle, automate processes, and ensure compliance with federal standards. This role emphasizes collaboration with development teams, operational excellence, and mentoring colleagues on best practices. The position is fully remote within the continental US and offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic environment focused on security, reliability, and innovation. Accountabilities:
- Design, deploy, and manage secure, scalable, and resilient AWS-based infrastructure aligned with federal policies and standards
- Implement DevSecOps practices to automate security processes across CI/CD pipelines
- Maintain compliance and security of cloud environments, performing regular audits and assessments
- Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, or similar tools
- Collaborate with development teams to integrate automated security testing and monitoring throughout the software lifecycle
- Manage security controls, logging, and monitoring tools to detect and respond to threats
- Participate in incident response, remediation, and root cause analysis
- Mentor team members on cloud security, DevSecOps methodologies, and operational best practices
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of hands-on experience with AWS cloud services focused on automation, security, and infrastructure management
- Strong understanding of federal policies, compliance, and security protocols
- Expertise in DevSecOps practices, including CI/CD automation and security integration
- Proficiency with IaC tools such as Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, or Ansible
- Experience with AWS security tools: Security Hub, CloudTrail, GuardDuty, WAF
- Strong knowledge of network security, IAM, encryption, and access control best practices
- Experience with containerization and orchestration tools (Docker, Kubernetes, EKS) is a plus
- Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools (CloudWatch, Datadog, ELK Stack, Splunk)
- Strong scripting skills (Python, Bash, or PowerShell)
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- U.S. Citizenship required with eligibility for Public Trust clearance
- AWS certifications such as DevOps Engineer, Security Specialty, or Solutions Architect preferred
