Job Description

This role is pivotal in enhancing the resilience and cloud-native capabilities of Nokia's MantaRay Network Management solution. The successful candidate will drive the design and implementation of critical backup and restore functionalities, ensuring data integrity and operational continuity for our global telecom customers. Concurrently, they will contribute significantly to the evolution of MantaRay's Cloud-as-a-Service (CaaS) platform, developing common cloud services and advancing its microservices architecture. This position requires a blend of system-level expertise in Linux and databases, coupled with strong cloud-native development and CI/CD skills. As part of a rapidly expanding scrum team, this engineer will play a key role in building capacity and delivering high-impact solutions in critical areas, directly contributing to the resilience and cloud transformation of our flagship network management product.

How You Will Contribute And What You Will Learn

As a Software Engineer you will:

  • Implement, maintain and validate backup, restore and disaster-recovery flows to ensure data integrity and business continuity for MantaRay and other Network Management products.
  • Develop and maintain microservices and common platform services in the CaaS BTI environment, following established patterns and code reviews.
  • Build and enhance CI/CD pipelines, automated tests, and deployment scripts (Helm/operators), focusing on repeatability and quality gates.
  • Focus on reliability & security: observability (Prometheus/Grafana), DR strategies, and operational troubleshooting in telecom-scale systems.
  • Collaborate within a scrum team: estimate tasks, demo outcomes, write design notes, and contribute to security and reliability best practices.

Key Skills And Experience

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Proficiency in Python with solid fundamentals in testing, code reviews, and clean code.
  • Core cloud-native skills: containers, Kubernetes/OpenShift basics, microservices, and REST/gRPC API development.
  • Practical Linux skills and scripting (Bash/Python); database fundamentals (SQL/NoSQL).
  • Git workflows and CI/CD tooling (e.g., Jenkins); working with Helm and YAML-based configuration.
  • Reliability mindset: basic observability (Prometheus/Grafana), security fundamentals, and hands-on troubleshooting in dev/staging environments.

Highly Valued Skills and Experience:

  • Experience designing and implementing backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies for complex distributed systems.
  • Familiarity with network management systems (NMS) or large-scale telecom infrastructure.
  • Experience deploying and maintaining common cloud services like Kafka, Redis, Prometheus, Grafana, etc.
  • Experience with OCP-V platform.
  • Understanding of security best practices for cloud and data protection.
