We are looking for an AIT/AIV Engineer to work at ESTEC’s premises in Noordwijk, Netherlands.


📍About the client and location

The European Space Research and Technology Centre (ESTEC) is the European Space Agency’s (ESA) base in Noordwijk, the Netherlands. As ESA’s largest test centre, it is responsible for the majority of space technology and spacecraft development through varying phases of production.


💼 Tasks and activities

The scope of work will include:

  • Supporting ESA projects in all phases of AIT/AIV engineering, assisting the Satellite Engineering and AIV Manager (or equivalent) in planning, execution, and oversight of integration, verification, and test activities.
  • Monitoring industrial activities at contractor premises, contributing to environmental testing and launch campaigns as required.
  • Reviewing project documentation and providing technical feedback on AIT/AIV deliverables, risks, and progress.
  • Contributing to internal and external meetings, preparing inputs, reports, and presentations as requested by project management.
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure smooth coordination of AIT/AIV tasks across engineering domains.
  • Participating in Section meetings and information exchanges to align with ongoing projects and strategic objectives.
  • Supporting feasibility assessments for future missions at the Concurrent Design Facility (CDF), contributing AIT, AIV, and programmatic expertise.


🎯Skills and experience

The following skills and experience are mandatory:

  • A Master’s degree, or equivalent, in a relevant technical or scientific discipline (e.g. Space System Engineering).
  • At least 5 years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience with procurement and technical monitoring of industrial activities.
  • Hands-on expertise in Space Engineering Standards and their preparation and implementation.
  • Knowledge of Space Missions and Spacecraft Systems Design.
  • Understanding of space systems architectures.
  • Familiarity with Systems Engineering in the early project phases (trade-offs, budgets, identification of critical technology developments, etc).
  • Desire to work both autonomously and as part of a team, in an international multicultural environment.
  • Solution oriented mindset, with a customer focused communication skill.
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
