Job Description


This is a remote position.

This role marks the starting point in the Quality Assurance career path. The Trainee to Junior QA Engineer will learn and apply fundamental testing principles, documentation standards, and collaboration practices. Under the mentorship of senior QA team members, this position focuses on understanding QA methodologies, executing basic test cases, identifying defects, and contributing to the overall software quality process.

Key Responsibilities

Individual Responsibilities

  • Complete introductory training on Test-Driven Development (TDD) and core QA principles.
  • Gain hands-on experience in defect documentation and issue tracking using standard tools (e.g., Jira, ClickUp, Trello).
  • Collaborate actively with peers and developers to enhance test coverage and process efficiency.
  • Demonstrate continuous learning and adaptation to QA standards and workflows.

Project Responsibilities

  • Assist in the creation and execution of test cases under the supervision of mid-level or senior QA engineers.
  • Review and validate small user stories or tickets to identify bugs and inconsistencies.
  • Log and document defects clearly, providing sufficient details for reproduction and resolution.
  • Maintain accurate records of testing activities, outcomes, and follow-up actions.
  • Participate in sprint activities (planning, reviews, retrospectives) as a QA contributor.

Departmental Responsibilities

  • Follow established QA standards, methodologies, and documentation templates.
  • Learn and apply best practices for manual testing and an introduction to test automation frameworks.
  • Contribute to the QA team’s continuous improvement by sharing observations and feedback.

Support the alignment between QA processes and company-wide quality goals.

Requirements

  • Basic understanding of software development life cycle (SDLC) and agile methodologies.
  • Familiarity with defect tracking and test management tools.
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical mindset.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills in English and Spanish.
  • Eagerness to learn and grow in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Exposure to testing concepts such as TDD, regression testing, and exploratory testing.
  • Knowledge of basic scripting or automation tools is a plus (e.g., Postman, Selenium).
  • Completion of a QA fundamentals or software testing course.
