🔧 Senior DevOps Engineer (Google Cloud Platform)
📍 Legally based in Portugal (remote-friendly within EU timezone) ⏰ Full-time 🌐 Fluent English (Spanish or Portuguese a plus)
At Luca, we are building the next generation of educational platforms for Latin America. Our products reach thousands of students and schools, which means our infrastructure must be secure, scalable, reliable, and automated.
We are looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer with deep experience in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) to lead the architecture, automation, and ongoing operation of our cloud infrastructure. You will be responsible for designing resilient systems, enforcing security, optimizing deployments, and ensuring high availability across environments.
Note: This role must be legally employed (contracted) from Portugal. Work can be remote within EU-timezone alignment.
🧠 Key Responsibilities
Infrastructure & Networking
• Design, deploy, and manage core infrastructure in GCP
• Configure VPCs, subnets, routing, firewalls, NATs, and load balancers
• Administer domains and Cloud DNS
• Ensure resilient, high-availability architecture
Security & Access Control
• Lead IAM access models, least-privilege, and role governance
• Implement secure authentication/authorization flows (including IAP)
• Manage SSL/TLS certificates and enforce encryption standards
• Apply hardening and audit controls across GCP services
Automation & CI/CD
• Define and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform
• Own CI/CD pipelines (Cloud Build, GitHub/GitLab CI)
• Automate testing and deployment workflows
• Execute progressive deployment strategies (blue/green, canary, rollback automation)
Data & Storage
• Manage Cloud Storage with lifecycle, IAM, and security policies
• Operate and optimize Cloud SQL (MySQL/PostgreSQL)
• Ensure backup, recovery, and data integrity strategies
Monitoring & Reliability
• Configure dashboards, metrics, traces, and alerts with Cloud Monitoring & Logging
• Integrate external observability stacks (Prometheus, Grafana, Sentry, etc.)
• Perform incident analysis and continuous performance tuning
• Monitor efficiency and cloud cost optimization
🎯 Requirements
• 5+ years in DevOps / SRE roles
• Proven, hands-on experience with GCP (not AWS/Azure-only)
• Strong expertise in:
- Networking & cloud security
- Load balancing & distributed systems
- Terraform (Infrastructure as Code)
- CI/CD pipelines (Cloud Build, GitHub/GitLab CI)
- • Familiarity with DevSecOps and automation-first mindset
- • Comfortable collaborating in English-first engineering environments
