Candidate Mandatory Qualifications
- Minimum eight (8) years of professional database management experience.
- Expert-level proficiency in MS SQL Server (all versions), SQL Server, and SQL Cluster Environments.
- Demonstrated proficiency in the following:
- Oracle (19c or similar)
- MariaDB
- MySQL
- PostgreSQL
- MS Access (legacy support)
- Experience with cloud database environments (Azure SQL).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a distributed team.
- Must be a US Citizen or legally authorized to work in the US (Green Card holder, H1B, etc.).
- Must be able to pass a GPO background investigation for a Public Trust position.
About the Role
- We are seeking a Senior SQL DBA to provide comprehensive database support for a key federal client, the Government Publishing Office (GPO).
- You will be one of four Key Personnel responsible for the support, development, and maintenance of the GPO's database environment.
- This role requires expert-level SQL Server skills combined with broad proficiency across a range of database technologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide daily support, development, and maintenance for SQL, Oracle, and other database environments.
- Troubleshoot daily SQL Server and SQL Cluster issues, including system setup, configuration, and error triage.
- Manage and maintain SQL Always ON clusters and standalone SQL databases.
- Respond to and resolve database-related requests and incidents via the ServiceNow ticketing system.
- Assist users in creating and building new SQL and Oracle databases.
- Troubleshoot database-related issues for applications such as SharePoint and Microsoft Power Apps.
- Perform periodic after-hours activities (patching, server reboots) as scheduled in advance.
- Maintain database architecture documentation, runbooks, and configuration guides.
- Deliver a weekly activity report detailing support activities and accomplishments.
- Communicate effectively with technical teams, business area managers, and GPO leadership.
