Hourly Contract | Remote | $75 –$150 per hour

1. About the Role

Mercor is recruiting Industrial Engineers to participate as independent contractors in a cutting-edge research initiative with one of the world’s top AI companies.

In this project, you’ll apply your real-world expertise in industrial systems, manufacturing processes, and operational optimization to design and evaluate questions related to your profession. Your input will help train and improve AI models to better understand engineering reasoning, production efficiency, and complex process workflows.

This is a remote, part-time, and fully asynchronous role that offers flexibility, competitive compensation, and the opportunity to directly shape the next generation of AI technology.

2. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and review occupation-specific questions and tasks rooted in real industrial engineering scenarios.
  • Evaluate AI-generated responses for accuracy, technical soundness, and practical relevance.
  • Provide detailed feedback on topics such as operations research, systems optimization, manufacturing, logistics, and process engineering.
  • Collaborate asynchronously with project managers to ensure high-quality deliverables and consistent standards.

3. Ideal Qualifications

  • 4+ years of full-time professional experience as an Industrial Engineer or in a closely related engineering field.
  • Based in the United States, United Kingdom, or Canada.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills in production systems, quality control, or lean manufacturing.
  • Excellent written communication and attention to technical detail.
  • Must have access to a desktop or laptop computer (Chromebooks not supported).
  • Ability to work independently in a remote, asynchronous environment.

4. Why You’ll Love This Opportunity

  • Work at the intersection of engineering and artificial intelligence.
  • Fully remote and flexible — manage your own schedule.
  • Competitive hourly compensation based on experience and location.
  • Long-term project estimated to run through the end of 2025 (and potentially beyond).
  • Help shape how AI understands real-world industrial engineering applications.

5. Compensation & Contract Terms

  • Rate: $75–$150 per hour (U.S. range; adjusted regionally).
  • Commitment: Minimum of 15 hours per week (workload may vary).
  • Duration: Ongoing through 2025.
  • Classification: Independent contractor via Mercor.
  • Payments: Weekly via Stripe Connect.
  • Visa: Not eligible for H1-B or STEM OPT sponsorship.

PS: Mercor reviews applications daily. Please complete your interview and onboarding steps to be considered for this opportunity.
